Each platoon is 24 soldiers, and a Lieutenant. The platoon is broken down into two 12 man squads, which break down into three 4 man teams. These teams will patrol the streets and keep the peace accoridng to your own laws.Jove wrote:Lord Adamorn said:
I would much appreciate your force in Magran. With it being the trade center of Eiran and so much money going in and out of it, it would be nice to know that the people would be safe from thievery.I work for the good of all from now on. As such, I am offering to provide a police force for any city or town that would have them. They will consist of a platoon of soldiers from my ranks (or more, if you request for bigger cities), and will preserve the peace and hold court for broken laws, each depending on the laws of the city. I will, hopefully, be working with Hedra Iren much more often in the future.
Of course, they would need to follow the laws themselves and I would need your guarantee that they would not prosletyze to my people and in return, my people will not prosletyze to them.
:EDIT:
If It is no trouble, a provided barracks will be all the Platoon needs. It will be off limits to civilians, or course. They will not proseylitize, though they might spread word of who they worship.
Will this number be sufficient?

That will be fine, again, they will require a small building for a Barracks, which will be off limits to civilians.Stonemaybe wrote:If things work out as planned this turn (!), I will require one or two of those squads, Lord Adomorn.

Lord Adomorn, are they there to patrol the streets or to spread the word of who they worship? I need at the very least your guarantee that they will not 'spread the word of who they worship'. That is just another phrase for proselytizing. They will not proseylitize, though they may spread the word of who they worship.
It was not my intention to cause any such reaction. I was trying to convey that even as gods we sometimes have little controll over the actions of individual followers.Jove wrote:Lord Adomorn, are they there to patrol the streets or to spread the word of who they worship? :EDIT:
They are under orders NOT to proselytize, I simply wanted to make it aware that such things have happened in the past. And if they do, simply make me aware of it, and I will deal with the situation as it arises.

I will live up to the oath, don't worry.Simjen wrote:Bhakti, Nor Yekith has agreed to the oath. If he lives up to it... who's to say?

Ok, I understand now. That will be fine. Goodness knows how our pesky little followers will act sometimes. They are under orders NOT to proselytize, I simply wanted to make it aware that such things have happened in the past. And if they do, simply make me aware of it, and I will deal with the situation as it arises.

Note, however, that I deal harshly with my own trade guild members if they should step out of line and proselytize or spread the word of Jove. If this does happen, you may deal with them as you wish but I would probably want the entire force removed from Magran.
The barracks is a good idea and I would have no problem with your force having a shrine to worship you within the barracks in private.
Excellent, I am very happy to be of service! And don't worry about my soldiers, I don't anticipate any problems.Jove wrote:Ok, I understand now. That will be fine. Yes, to Magran. That would be fantastic. Thank you greatly.
One more thing, though: Magran is my city and I will not have marshal law declared nor have it turn to a military zone. If this happens, I will ask the force to leave. I know you are honorable, Adamorn, and I trust you act as such. But, again, those pesky followers......
If you are in agreement with that, then by all means send your forces and I welcome them to Magran.

Absolutley. The soldiers are only to keep the peace, not to claim territory. They are on their way.Jove wrote:Yes, to Magran. That would be fantastic. Thank you greatly.

ADOMORN!!!!
And all others with the same plan. I have spoken to many, but did not know a plan of any sort was in the works that did not include consulting me!
The Abomination may be beyond any form of assault. It may actually feed on such things. If you intend to use DRP to help me against it, send it to me in the form of Love - the Love you have for whatever you most Love. For a Lover, a child, your people, your lands, the Love you feel when fully exercising your Power, ANYTHING! Friendship is a form of Love.
Please do NOT attack it! Do not attempt to destroy it! All of my Power is being used in the way I, based on my first-hand knowledge of the thing, think has the best chance.

I have already posted my actions this turn and yes, they involve hunting the abomination. Do you have any special information about why that wouldn't work? You see, I'm worried that if I sent you power, the abomination would be able to drain that from you if things went wrong... I'm planning to attack at a range without manifesting myself, thus giving the thing no opening. I have seen no evidence that the abomination can absorb power from attacks, only from deific essence.

I think consulting a god before offering unsolicited aid is the polite thing to do. Enough can go wrong even when you're trying to work together, without a god having unknown variables to account for.
Undine, from what Bhakti has said, I wouldn't be surprised if it had more than one.
Undine, from what Bhakti has said, I wouldn't be surprised if it had more than one.
Said she, "What I get I get out of the fire,
So prithee, strike home and redouble the blow."
So prithee, strike home and redouble the blow."
I barely know where to begin. When things happen to you, do you learn more of it than the rest of us learn? Yes, I have special information, and I have seen it absorb things other than my deific essence. (And if this Abomination can drain the very essence out of me, a feat none of us could accomplish, why would anyone think that anything else is safe?) From everything I saw, I suspected I understood enough about it to defeat it. It is pain and rage and rot, and it gained strength by absorbing the blood and power of some of my most powerful servants. Attacks were making it stronger. So how does the god of Love fight without attacking? When it is a creature of rage and pain, I Love it. And how does the god of Forests fight rot? With Forest Health. It cannot punch at Love and Forest Health, and it certainly does not want to absorb them. They are its opposites.Tsaloga wrote:I have already posted my actions this turn and yes, they involve hunting the abomination. Do you have any special information about why that wouldn't work? I did not say anything publicly. Giving Yek information about a beast such as this could well hasten my promised destruction. So I spoke with some in private. (I speak publicly now because I do not expect to be battling this thing another round. I cannot imagine how it could not be resolved this turn. So it doesn't matter who knows. And if it does go another turn, I don't want several deities all trying different things, without overall coordination, and the greatest possible information.)
And, indeed, my plan seemed good! I had gained the upper hand in my battle. If I had not faltered (an event of which I will not speak), I would have won already.
But I did falter. So the plan was enhanced. I am now fighting it with much additional Power - sent to me by many, in the form of Love.
No, I am not certain that what you and Adomorn (and possibly others?) have done will feed the Abomination. Perhaps your assaults will be out of its range of absorbable things. I hope to live to find out. But if it is able to feed on your assaults, it may well be able to withstand even my much-enhanced might.
What it comes down to is this: Simjen called it "polite." I would say it's necessarily polite for any of us to ask permission to use our Power in another's lands or on another's followers. But in situations like this, it is far more than polite. Why would there be discussion among deities about how to deal with this Abomination that do not include my input???

By the way, it is Nor Yekith, not 'Yek'. Save your colloquialisms for speaking that ridiculous child talk with your son.
