Excellent, well done Ali! I'm still wavering between 9 stone 13 and 10 stone 1. :D

Good for you, Io! :D If you were doing Weight Watchers, you'd be golden. To stay in as a lifetime member, WW gives you a 5-lb. "fudge factor" after you've hit your goal. (No, they don't give you actual fudge. What I mean is that if you gain more than 5 lbs., they make you start paying to come to meetings again.)

Wow, golden eh? I've added pasta to my lunchtime salads, and sometimes I have croissants. I've found it more difficult eating a bit more to stay the same weight than I did losing it in the first place! :D

How's everyone doing with weight loss? I seem to be stalled in terms of actual weight, but I look skinnier. And people notice that I am skinnier. So maybe the exercise is working.

I seem to have levelled out at about 9 stone 12 (138 pounds). I've had to cut out any fat now because of the possible gall stones, but have discovered couscous. :D Last week I bought some skinny jeans size 12. My daughter assures me that I don't look like mutton dressed as lamb, and as she is willing to walk down the street with me wearing them I believe her. I've had to give away several pairs of trousers and skirts that fell down when I put them on and yesterday exchanged one of my large size "uniform" family history t shirts to a medium which looks much better. Unfortunately there was only one medium there so I have to put up with two large ones (which drown me) to go with it for the 3 day event in April. I have almost no stomach now and my bottom has all but disappeared!

All right, I'm in. Part of the "Change" for me was gaining 40 lbs. I did manage to lose about 13, now I waffle between the same 3 lbs. or so, gaining and losing.

I actually eat a very healthy diet, my body just doesn't respond the way it should. For about a year I've been doing yoga, which has helped my metabolism and general health, and made achey joints and back pain controllable.

This weekend I went through my weekly work schedule and found little nooks and crannies here and there to stick in exercise sessions. More yoga, and also more walking/jogging. Because even I got tired of hearing the excuses I was falling back on (no time, bored with yoga, blah blah blah). And though I eat a healthy diet there is always room for improvement; and I could try smaller portions.

So there it is. Currently 173 lbs and would really like to get back to 142, a very good weight for me. Ugh. Now that I've said it in public (sort of) I guess I have to get busy.

Io, very very well done, what you have done is what I want to do. I heard a man say once years ago "You can't think that you will do someday what you're not willing to do today." That came back to haunt me and I can make all the excuses about how busy and stressed I am and at the end of the day I still don't like the shape I'm in and no one else is going to change it for me!

Deer, is it possible that you are eating something that doesn't agree with you? I've never been a faddy person (with the exception of anything really spicy hot), and prided myself on not being "alergic" to anything, but as soon as I cut out the bread half of my previous health problems disappeared. If I hadn't decided to loose weight I may never have found that out. Could you try cutting certain things out and seeing what happens? Smaller portions has certainly helped me, if you can put up with feeling hungry for a while. Drinking water helps the hunger pangs. I have also stopped buying "ready meals", most of my meals are now cooked from scratch, and as I am not much of a cook most meals are very simple affairs.

A friend of mine had the same issue with bread. And other wheat products, actually.

Nice work on the weight loss, Iolanthe.

I do yoga, pilates, and dancing for exercise.
I'm trying to figure out how I've been weighing exactly the same every morning. Doesn't seem plausible that there isn't at least some fluctuation. Think I'll weigh myself at the gym when I go to yoga class in a little while.

I've been up and down in a 3-lb. range for the past month or so. But I know it's not a plateau -- I'm just not being as careful about snacks as I was before. Every week, I say I'm going to get better about it... I need to actually do that.

Well, apparently my scale is capable of displaying a different number than the one I've seen every morning for a while now. :P

I do seem to be on a plateau. I need to either eat smarter or exercise more. Maybe both.

They do, sort of. But I'm feeling pretty good about how I look right now, so it doesn't suck as much as it might.

If you know what I mean. ;)

The fall Jewish holidays (read massive eat-a-thon) are almost over and I've managed to not gain any weight. So far.

Good for you, MsMary! :)

I'm pretty stressed out right now, what with the situation with Mom's house coming to a head. So I'm giving myself permission to quit worrying about counting points, etc., until we hash it all out. Still trying to eat healthy stuff, mostly, but I know I've done some damage. :(

I stopped weight watchers. I just could not take the constant sales pitch and the crappy garbage products.

My friend owns a website called mediterraneanliving.com and I am working on converting my diet to one with more greens, olive oil, fish. They have some good recipes and good perspective.

I'm not doing the meetings, lorin -- I'm paying something like $15/month for the smartphone app. Agreed on the sales pitches and the crappy products -- I really hate that stuff about WW. It was at a minimum in the At Work meetings, but I've been to a few regular meetings and they are *all* about selling their products there. :(

If I sign up for another set of meetings, I will probably do TOPS -- it's kind of similar to WW but it's run as a nonprofit, so it's significantly cheaper.

I do the online program, too. Using the app, I don't really see the sales pitches. And I just delete most of the emails.

You can use Sparkpeople for free (although I think the app may cost now), but they have sales pitches, too.

Unfortunately, this is not the week to talk to me about losing weight.

In fact, it might not be the month to talk to me about it.

*Next* month, however...

Determination springs eternal!

I just got a FitBit Flex. Going to start trying to track my walking and so on. Good friend of mine works as QA for FitBit so I have an insider track on quality...
