How I miss Jenn's yearly rant about the Nutcracker.

My daughter hates that Paul McCartney song as well and for the same reasons.
IMO, lists and compilations of Best Christmas songs is just like having a list of Best Lethal Infections or Top Ten Torturers.
But THAT song is uniquely vile.

I feel better now. Think I'll grab my reindeer and go looking for grandmas.

I have changed my mind. Santa Baby is worse than Jingle Bell Rock. Exceedingly, exceptionally, excessively, exorbitantly, immensely, intensely, immoderately, entire-unabridged-thesaurus worse. After hearing it for the seventh (and fortunately final for today anyway) time at work, I just wanted to glare up at the speakers and channel my best Peter Capaldi impression - "Shut Up, Shut Up, Shut Up, Shuttity Up Up Up!"

Random fact: The main performer of Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer (Dr. Elmo Shropshire) was the veterinarian for most of my pets before he retired. He used to sell cassettes of his recordings at the office counter.

I'm amused by that comparison, vraith.

You hate the same songs I hate!!

That is so random and surprising.

Thanks Linna - felling somewhat better now and glad to hear your lad is on the mend :) .

On the Christmas song theme, I defy anyone to say they don't like The Ronettes much played 1963 song Sleigh Ride. It's simply a great tune that you love every time you hear it!

Goodness me, I have missed a lot!

Damelon, thank God you and your pets are OK. Good luck with the renovations.

Linna, I hope your son gets sorted out soon.

Peter, your symptoms sound exactly the same as mine. I used to curl up and keep completely still as any movement made it worse. Do you still have your gall bladder? I have no problems now I've had mine out, except now and again my hiatus hernia plays up a bit.

Sarge, glad you are out of hospital. I followed you on FB when you were in.

Sorry if I forgot anyone there, my short term memory has been affected by the haemorrhage and I'm surprised I remembered so much of what I read!

I absolutely love the "Frog Chorus" (Paul McCartney), I have the vinyl!

Sorry not to have been here for so long. Just damn lazy I'm afraid. I don't spend much time on the computer at the moment as I am having trouble with my eyes - another effect of the haemorrhage. I've managed to offload a large part of what I did for the Family History Society so theoretically I should have a lot more time on my hands, but you know how it goes. I really must try to get back into some kind of routine.

Hubby has now retired from driving the school bus, he will be 69 next birthday, so next time I visit ABQ I will bring him with me. Goodness knows what he will make of you lot! Sammy (our 13 year old dog) is still with us, but I doubt very much that he will survive another year. He sleeps very deeply and I had a heck of a job waking him up the other morning. He seems to be almost completely deaf now but he is still very good natured.

Hi Iolanthe!

Our dog, Zac, is almost 18 now, and still staggering along!

You better get back into the Watch habit and visit more often ;)

Yes, Stevie, I must. 18 is a very great age for a dog! Of our 5 dogs three have lived to 13. There is hope for Sammy yet!

I was thinking of you when news of the earthquake came through. I hope you weren't affected. Or was it a hurricane or something? I can't quite remember.

13's a good age. We have been lucky I guess, with our dogs. My first dog made it to 17. Zac is our 2nd - and we have two more - one is 6, and the other is nearly 12 months old. We'll see how they go!

THANK YOU. I would rather hear The Christmas Shoes than that, and if I hear The Christmas Shoes I start throwing things and screaming vituperations.

Funny Fact: Nigerians love Feliz Navidad, although they have absolutely no idea what it's saying. I finally wrote out the Spanish lyric for my grade 3 class (because it was like, "Fah-leeze knobby dod, pus..mumblesomething mehffy mehffy Dod) and they were like "OOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!" and several kids hurriedly wrote it down.

I am very leery of new Christmas songs because most of them seem so crassly commercial, but I do love Sting's Christmas at Sea, Noel by Chris Tomlin and Lauren Daigle, Coventry Carol/King Without a Mountain by Beta Radio, All is Well by Wayne Kirkpatrick, Welcome to Our World by Chris Rice.

Yeah, I think it's going to be Fah-leeze knobby dod from now on.

Also, I seem to have caught the cold that's going around at work.

They seem to have reshuffled the playlist. The good news is that I only had to endure six Santa Babys today. The bad news is that it now puts four different versions of Baby, It's Cold Outside back-to-back. That shouldn't be legal.

Av - hang in there; the weekend will come as surely as night follows day. as to the client meeting the best advice I can give you is to fashion an origami nose and to pop it on unexpectedly as a means of breaking the ice; a technique recommended in a book I read on [you guessed it] origami!

[Let me know how it goes out of interesr ;) ]

I'm trying to picture what would happen if I tried that at work. My co-workers tend to take things literally and I try not to leave room for misunderstanding. There was a time that I blamed a printer problem on gremlins, and a co-worker was actually quite worried that I really believed there were gremlins in the printer. There are gremlins in the printer, but that's not the point. Now I don't remember what the point was.

:LOLS: My origami skills are non-existent I fear. Luckily the meeting went well nonetheless...which was good since the client CEO flew out here from the UK for it.

I feel...expectant. One more day of work after today, then I'm on leave until Jan 3rd.

I also feel like it's quiet on the Watch...too quiet.

I'm good at making origami boulders. Are you doing anything special with your time off?

Yes. :D Not working. :D That's the most special thing there is. ;)

Other than that, nothing. Too difficult to go away with the cats, and the GF refuses to board the live-in, so that sorta keeps us home bound.

Not that I'm complaining. Going away is far too much like work.

Can't argue with that. My fingers have been itching towards the vacation request tab, but I know I'd just be setting myself up for disappointment.

Watching all the people on the trains this week with their luggage and whatnot, I find I don't envy them one bit. Time off would be nice though. Very nice.
