I'm exhausted. I got in to work today only to find the receiving area a total disaster. There were five and a half pallets of freight still to be broken down and about twenty minutes after I got there the new shipment came with six more pallets. Those six new pallets hardly got touched and neither did the ones that remained from yesterday. Edward called in the big guns and I know Tina is going to be pissed at him but we are getting two extra freight guys tomorrow and two more on Saturday to help us get caught up. It's a nightmare. I am going to go in an hour or so early tomorrow to start to try to get a handle on it. Then Lupe called and gave notice. That totally sucks. I just walked in the door ten minutes ago, this commute is killing me so I have made a tough decision. I am going to give notice at my apartment and move in with a friend for a few months to get some deposit money socked away and look for a place in the East Bay. I really don't want to leave the city but something has to give. Bleagh. I need a hug.

Thanks for the hugs, I needed em very badly. I kicked ass at work today despite the fact that neither promised helper showed up. We still got seven pallets worked, two partially worked and only five fresh pallets in. It didn't hurt that we were slow and someone else was able to cover the register backup and was helping me with lockup merchandise calls. Plus it's interesting that Edward works a u-boat hard when the big boss is around. Anyway, back to the grind tomorrow and hopefully the promised extras will show. Sorus, Billy is one of them so that should be fun for me. Anyway, I have Monday and Tuesday off so that's when I am going to start my organizing and packing and try to figure out how much notice to give on my apartment. I am currently on month to month so I am not sure if I need to give a full month or not, either way, the fun begins Monday and actually I like purging my stuff an minimizing every so often so it's actually going to really be good for me.

I'm very homesick right now - my home town was struck by a 7.1 magnitude earthquake early this morning, and has been experiencing aftershocks all day (two or three an hour). No one dead, but massive amounts of damage, and it's taken a while to get hold of everyone from here in Manila.
Apparently big earthquakes like this are followed by a major aftershock one level less than the main event itself, so everyone is on edge waiting for the 6.1 that's supposed to follow.
www.stuff.co.nz/national/4094986/Weathe ... earthquake
Not the worst earthquake in the world by a long shot, but the worst little old NZ has had in 80 years, and from people have told me when I called home it's the continuing aftershocks that are getting to people.

That was easy - I'm not in NZ.
Same magnitude as Haiti, and slightly closer to the surface too. It's a good thing that earthquake-proofing is such a big thing here.

Best to you and yours, VS. I wonder how our other NZ Watchers are doing. Isn't Vain in NZ?

I thought I saw UFO's tonight.
From my window there were orange lights crossing the sky. At first I thought they were helicopters, then I noticed that they were on fire. I ran outside to see them better. They were really beautiful, scudding across low in the sky like living fairies.
After about a dozen of them flew by, a couple were walking down the street. I asked them what they could make out of the lights. The girl said they looked like planes. I said to her, no they are flames. Then she said, they must be Chinese Lanterns.
Oh...? I said.
Then felt like a lemon.
But, for a few minutes it was really really magical.

VS, glad to hear you have been in touch with all of your loved ones. Has anyone heard from Dorian?
ali, Vain lives on the North Island, IIRC. Quite a ways from ChCh. Hopefully his area experienced nothing.
Jenn, I am sorry it is looking more and more that you need to move. i remember your excitement about scoring your current place. I hope you are as happy, if not more so, with whatever you find next.
Sea, as I said on Facebook, I can't wait to see pictures from the party!

Krazy Kat, at least you didn't look like a doofus in front of anybody you know.

Hopefully, yeah.
Jenn, sorry about having to move. But as someone who moved much closer to her job this year, I can tell you that you will be hugely surprised at the improvement in your quality of life. You are gonna gain *so* much time.
