That's quite a spectacle, Stevie.
I would have to pass if such a thing were a Tampa tradition like Gasparilla

I had to Google Gasparilla, as I was picturing it fighting Godzilla. Looks like fun, but the sort of fun I'd probably avoid because I don't like crowds.

I feel blah. I was sick a couple of weeks ago with a bad cold. Now I have residual chest congestion that won't seem to go away. It's making me feel extra tired.

Yep. Dunno about you, but winter hasn't been that bad here this year. A few really cold days, but that's about it. Still plenty of time I guess, but at least it'll be getting lighter earlier and dark later from now on. I hate winter.

Winter's been ok. Hardly any rain so far. Up until the 21st we'd had 0.2mm for June. Currently sitting on 2.8mm for the month.
But yeah, traditionally August is the coldest and bleakest month.

losing weight still. but need my every two year shots in my back for a bulging disc. neck / shoulder also hurts. impingement likely.

I'll second both of those thoughts. Glad this week is over. My jaw looks like it's being assimilated by the Borg. It was a bit of a shock the first time I actually looked at it. I mean, I remembered the dentist saying it'd take a few months for the tissue and whatnot to grow over the metal, but I guess all the research I'd done on the actual procedure was produced by the folks who recommend it, therefore it focuses a lot more on the shiny happy 'After' pictures. I'll be glad when it's done, but for what it's costing me, I am severely disappointed that it doesn't shoot lasers.

We should start something. If I have to look like a steampunk cyborg for the next few months, I want to be a functional one.
Actually, I'm lucky that it doesn't show much on the outside, except that I have even more nerve damage on that side now. Could have been worse, but it still sucks.

Don't say that, Dude. Its going to be awesome. Every moment of life is precious and even though we have to spend 8 solid hours doing what someone else wants at least we get to do it in relative comfort.
When I first started in Land Surveying I worked out in the field (outside) digging holes, dodging speeding cars, avoiding snakes, getting stung by wasps, poison Ivy, suffering cuts and bruises, sweating buckets into my boots for very little pay. I'm thankful I don't have to do that anymore.

I'm gonna agree with Av on this one. It's only Monday, and I'm already two days behind due to a situation that is completely out of my control.

Well, TOM's not wrong...it could
always be worse, so I'm grateful for that...
But that doesn't mean things aren't going to suck.
(Actually, my Monday was not as bad as I feared, but some unpleasant jobs coming up that I really don't want to do...damn clients...)

(See. I look like my avatar.

I know how everyone feels about the work day. Nothing but headaches and getting told what you have to do all day. You can't just get up and leave even when you are sick of doing the same repetitive thing over and over again until you think you will explode with aggravation. You rarely get any praise for your efforts. You don't get paid enough. If you won the lottery you would never step foot in that office again for the rest of your life even to retrieve your desk toys.
And TUESDAY is far worse than Monday because its a dead zone. Not the day after the weekend. Not Hump Day. Not the day before Friday. Not Friday. Its nothing.
However since its the only day we have I vote we make the most of it.
Have a good day y'all.

Yes, 'it could be worse' is pretty much my mantra these days.
And you really do look like your avatar.

To be honest, if we take as given the fact that we
have to work, I actually have a great job. It's not repetitive (sometimes it's a whole fresh new hell every day

), the boss thinks I'm amazing, I get paid pretty well (of course more would always be nice), the hours are fairly good, the leave time is acceptable, and the work is not generally onerous.
(At the moment it is, because we lost 2 project managers and I'm filling the gap, but once we get a replacement trained up (although it might take a longish time) I can go back to a life of relative indolence, studying up on the industry, doing research, writing articles and newsletters, and putting out the occasional raging inferno of crises.)
So yeah, I don't really have much grounds for complaint. This will not stop me from complaining, but it's more to make me feel better than any genuine grievance.

I like my job most days. But my work situation is not as good as it used to be.
Personally, I'm looking forward to my retirement.
(Or, as I say to a co-worker every time I see her: "Counting the days!"
