Just make sure to put a plastic liner down and get a hand held mirror and lay on a soft surface when you do. Otherwise if you pass out from the pain you could do some serious damage to your noggin by whacking it on the side of the sink or the toilet.

I've recommended this before: I had a tooth I needed pulled and went to the dental school to let them do it seeing as I didn't have money or insurance. Those guys did a really swell job of it, too. I think it's due to the fact that they haven't become totally disgusted with their job yet and still try to do the most impressive job possible.
I was told they are dentists but working off bits of their tuition by working at low cost in the school so jokes aside I recommend the school over drugs and drills.

It's generally about one third what a regular dentist would charge.

And when I visited them they took off another 25% if I paid right after the procedure. You'll probably just have to call one and go in.
And I suggest pushing the fact that you're in a good deal of pain in order to get it pulled before serious infection takes over.

In all the 400+ pages, I've never posted here. I felt a little guilty just bragging without at least checking to see how others are feeling today. To those who feel bad . . . I'm sorry. But Cail, I can certainly relate to you my friend (if you're being honest, and not sarcastic, that is). I'm on top of the world. I'd really like to hear what you can't talk about, though. Why hide good news?

Myself, I just made the biggest sale of my career. Things are going fantastic at work. I'm working myself to the bone . . . but it's definitely paying off. My latest sale puts me over veterans at my company, in terms of sheer size for a single "project manager" (my official title). And it may even put me ahead in terms of over all sales. Maybe. We've got some good salesmen and I don't know their exact figures.

Anyway, it's a good time to be alive. Donaldson's book is out today. The weather is finally starting to feel like camping weather. And I'm getting referrals at an ever increasing rate. Should be a good Christmas.

So I'm posting this news here because I'm f*cked if I'm going to worry about it again...so being as blaze as I possibly can be: I have found another lump where there should not be lumps. So wacko: I'm going to go see a doctor (when I can see one in this stupid f*cked-up town) and then I'm sure they'll say "we'll do a fine needle biopsy" of both of these lumps (I dunno...I'll probably have to wait a week or two to get that done) and then after that I can wait another week or so for the results! HOORAH! Happy Fatal Revenant day to me!

How long do you wait after your menses before you do a self exam? The tissue does change depending on where you are in your cycle, as I'm sure you know. Are you positive it's more than that?

Sea, didnt' they do a "comparison" thing to your other lump? I have a chart that they measure my "new" lumps against based on the first lump. Mine turned out to be calcium deposits and in one case an infected milk gland. Hormones and in two cases direct injections to dissolve the lump have ensued. Also, checking yourself regularly you should be finding them way way way before they become life threatening. We are also of an age when calcium deposits are common. I'm sure it's nothing but I do feel your worry. I've waited for the results and worried endlessly and panicked and mourned my own self while waiting. Keep in mind that at this early stage they can do a lumpectomy as easy as pie and you will still be an outpatient. I know it sucks with the waiting and all but seriously, early detection is key and you have done that. Hugger snuggers to you but I feel in my heart that all will be fine.

The doctors encouraged once a week checks? With the cycle changes, I know I would freak out if I checked that often. But you do need to do what you were told to do.

Follow up as you should. But I think I'm with Jenn on this for now. Calcium deposits and cystic lumbs are a bitch, but are generally not malignant.

Yes. Once a week. Keep a record of it. As they didn't know exactly what the lump was (it was simply identified as a "prominent benign density") there was no guaranteeing it wouldn't morph into something else...at least, I think that's the story. I don't know.

<shrug> I can either tear myself into pieces like I did last time, or I can just say "I don't give a flying ****" and wait and see.

Hopefully it'll all be a case of: Stick a needle in me...I'm done!

Amazing what we tell ourselves.

Having lost my Mom to breast cancer on her 50th birthday, and my Dad to lung cancer seven years later, and only beeing two and a quarter years from hitting 50 myself now, I too have to stay on top of this stuff. But I am so distrustful of Western medical science. It's tough to find the proper balance of running to the doctors and dismissing what could be a concern out of hand.
