Fresh hell is better than stale hell. I don't usually mind the clients; it's the coworkers, or actually just one coworker who makes my life hell. I can usually get along with anyone. I tried using her as the template for a villain in a story I was writing, but it didn't work. She's just too petty. I go out of my way to avoid her, and she follows me around saying 'beep beep'. It's her favorite phrase. She thinks it's hilarious. It's like working with a defective robot.Avatar wrote:I love my job, it's just the clients I hate. Wednesday was a real ball-breaker. First of all, that sucks.Sorus wrote: Fresh hell is better than stale hell. I don't usually mind the clients; it's the coworkers, or actually just one coworker who makes my life hell. Friday. 48 gloriously robot-free hours. I really hope I can laugh about the whole situation one of these days. It's been going on for three years, and it's never been funny. We got off to a bad start. I'd been in a hit-and-run the day before. Half my body was one big bruise. I'd been denied my request to leave early to go to the hospital. Had a lot of very heavy stuff to move around. Was moving a 60lb box when she came up and gave me a shove from behind while beeping gleefully. I dropped the box on my foot. Told her in no uncertain terms not to ever do any part of that ever again. She hasn't touched me since, so that's something, but she hasn't stopped beeping. 'Everyone else' thinks it's cute, according to her. She doesn't like me because I'm 'not fun' and because 'real women don't do their own heavy lifting'.Avatar wrote:Ok, that's pretty funny to hear about, if not so funny to live.
At least it's Friday. Early day for me, hooray.

Ha, yeah, took minutes to sign up, but 2-6 weeks before I'll get service...hoping it'll be 2, since my building already has fibre run to it, but this is Africa...who the hell knows?aTOMiC wrote:

That's not an Africa thing that's SOP for ISPs.Avatar wrote:

Six weeks seems excessive - but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen here. Only took one week the last time I moved. Though I didn't change ISPs then; they just had to send someone out to the new address to get things working. The guy even showed up on time, which was pretty impressive. My cats (3 semi-ferals at that time) were still getting settled at that time, and I'd just bought them a big sack of catnip, which was sitting out on the counter when the installation guy arrived. His eyes kept going to it like they were being pulled by a magnet, and I realized he probably thought it was pot. I should have just told him that it was catnip, but I ran a couple of lines through my head and decided that I probably wouldn't believe it if I were him. I thought about grabbing a handful and sprinkling it on the floor, but the cats were hiding under the bed and wouldn't come out with a stranger in the room. So that was a little awkward.Avatar wrote:Ha, yeah, took minutes to sign up, but 2-6 weeks before I'll get service...hoping it'll be 2, since my building already has fibre run to it, but this is Africa...who the hell knows?aTOMiC wrote:
