I had the customer call his insurance while still at the shop. He clearly hit me, there were multiple witnesses. It is on his head. But it still sucked because I had to call Vernard and tell him that his car got hit. Ugh. :?

SBG, you are not a cruel bastard.

Yeah SBG. Lighten up on yourself. Family doesn't mean automatically nice or anything. Hell, tell the truth, if my brother keeled over dead right now, I'd heave a big sigh of relief. *shrug*

Don't be too hard on yourself, SBG. You didn't say anything. It's like my Grandmother said - You can pick your friends but you can't pick your family.

Kinda the way I feel about my brother, too....

I'm flying tomorrow to Chicago and going from there to my mom's house in Indiana to spend a few days with her. I e-mailed my brother (who basically takes care of everything for her -- Mom is 92) and asked him if my mom's car is running, because if it was, I could take public transit to her house and save $200 on a car rental. He took about two weeks to write me back: no, the car doesn't work and don't try to get it started; why don't you drive out here with your own car so you can take all your stuff home with you (which I did, years ago...); you don't come often enough; my wife and I are working our fingers to the bone for Mom; and btw, here's a list of chores to do while you're here.

And he wonders why I don't come more often.

I mentioned the car thing in passing to one of my bosses, and he said, "Why doesn't your brother loan you his car?" I stopped for a minute and thought about what it would be like to live in a family like that. And then I said, "Clearly you don't know this guy."

So, SBG -- jerk-ish family members abound; they just come in different flavors. :(

I am excited today! I am going to the FREE Homecoming BBQ at my old high school and football game! I will have friends, kids and my parents with me.

Don't be so hard on yourself SBG. It sounds like you may well be right. Moreover, take heart in the fact that your cousin is going to get his chance to get it right this time. Whatever game he had been playing was over and now... something new.

My old high school sweethearts mother died of ovarian cancer last Thursday...I spent Sunday and monday with my old friend and some our mutuals from High School.

I was saddened by the mothers passing, and amazed at the richness of her life.

Actually, I am feeling really good today. I just had one of those moments near the end of the work day when someone sincerely thanked me. It totally made my day. :) And it also inspired me to be more thankful to others who are doing their jobs well. So now I'm going to go look for someone to thank. (Though it just may be a bardtender ;) )

SBG, unless you broke out into song and dance on the grave site, I wouldn't call you a cruel bastard. I've asked my sister-in-law what the hell she sees in my brother on more than one occasion!

Uuuuuuuuug. Spent most of the day editing my research proposal for an EPA fellowship that I know I'm not going to get anyway. And I spent most of my time this week before that on a website for some project that the professor funding me is working on. And I spent most of the previous week working on a poster on my research for a conference. And I spent most of the weeks before that working on lectures that I had to make for an online class. And now.......... finally.......... I'm breathing a little easier...... heh. But I guess at least it's been a good, productive month.

Still. I need a beer. Heh.-jay

Yes SBG, don't be so hard on yourself. :)

Me. Heh. I have a cracking headache. I'm sure it was probably caused by having to read all Vain's prattle while we played scrabble last night...
Spoiler
...or perhaps it was the vodka I was drinking! <cheeky grin>

Edit: I just lamented quite loudly "All I want to do is have small tits" to which SoS replied "No you can't! You have big tits". I love my son!

I just finished bloody act 2 for the UK cartoon show -- did the camera notes and filled out the FedEx slip and the voucher -- it's all done! I'd feel jubillant if I wasn't so wiped out. Eight days without a break. Still, :)

I'm going to sleep in tomorrow.

Oh, and I bought an iPod shuffle (green) specifically dedicated to Caer-Caveral's music. Shut up, you already know I'm a geek. And no, I'll never tell you what's on it so far. But I'm open to suggestions.

I feel good. Just got back from a flick with Angela, feeling loving, watching Fiddler on the Roof, and eating Angel Food cake.

If you have a video iPod, you should download this and have it on there as well.

My turn for a mini home-disaster.

I got home at 3:30am last night after a long delayed flight from Seattle to Chicago, only to find the place had been ransacked (by someone other than me, that is). I lost one of my computers, a couple camera lenses, and some small stuff. Probably more that I forgot I had, but I can't say for sure.

I spent a good chunk of time at Lowes picking out a new back door to help ensure it does not happen again.

That's awful. You're certainly bearing up with more starch than I could summon. If somebody got away with my electricals I'd be in hysterics.
