One thing that pisses me off about Runes (Besides Linden)

The chapter numbering system! What the hell? (This doesn't already have a topic in here, does it? Heh.) 1,2,3,4,5,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12? HUH? This had to have been some lame decision by the publisher. SRD couldn't have been this dumb. But could someone please tell me what idiot decided to give the book three Ch. 1's, three Ch. 2's, and so on??? Am I the only one who was really bothered by this? What is this, the middle ages? Can't we count past twelve??? And how bad is it for my self-esteem as a slow reader if, once I FINALLY finish Ch. 12, I have to start ALL OVER AGAIN at Ch. 1. GRR! Didn't this make it hard for discussion. "Well, in Ch. 3..." "Which Ch. 3?" "The second Ch. 3." "You sure you didn't mean the third Ch. 3?" BAH!
Ok, I just wanted to get that out of my system. Hehe.
Oh, and there are many other things that pissed me off about Runes besides that. Including Linden.

Good question! I agree (it is a bit annoying...I'd much prefer to say "in chapter 17" rather than "in part 2, chapter 5"!) That said, I think you'll have to blame the author for that one! Are you calling SRD "dumb"!
As for Linden bashing...

Haven't we already gone through this once already?

If SRD is responsible for this mathematical nightmare, then yes, he IS dumb.
I mean, it makes NO sense. It's not a common chapter numbering style for books. (At least, I can't recall ever reading a book numbered that way.) So it just makes things harder for the reader. And it bothers my OCDness. Heh.
Maybe I should finally send my first GI question and bug him about that. Heh. I'm afraid to send him a GI question though, since I'm afraid that I'm just going to start ranting about how much Runes sucked.

Lets superanalyze the numbering system to find hidden clues and meanings.
3 "books" = the trinity of Foul, TC and the Creator
12 is significant in some way, I'm sure but can't remember.
All the answers are there in the numbers.
And they all add up to "Linden Sucks!"

Well, of course it's clear... Fatal Revenant will be the second book in the LC, making it the THIRD from the end... there will be a multiple of 12 chapters in it... and 12 characters will die

Now now, weren't you THOOLAH members happy that Linden took a bullet in the chest? (in the beginning of ROTE)
SRD was granting your hearts' fondest wish!!!
All that has to happen now is something to make her body match her condition in "the real world" and she will obligingly drop dead.

You know, thinking about that recent question on the GI where he was asked whether he believes that the act of writing about specific characters or places is actually an act of creation somewhere in the universe, I'd say this desire of yours to see Linden dead is pretty psychopathic, if one really subscribes to that theory

give Linden a little more credit...

Yes we all think Linden is a little bit annoying but I cut her a little slack... I remember the first time I read LFB and I don't think Linden has been half as annoying as TC being a little cry baby through out his duration in the land... He's got his pitty party following him around the whole time he's there... "I'm a leper... I don't know how to use my power... I don't trust the land..." blah blah blah blah... here's my sad face TC---- >

now get on with your bad self like you do in the second chronicles... where your too pissed to really care one way or the other...
I know it's not about runes... but it's always hacked me off... I just hope Linden can finally suck it up and start getting pissed off herself.
