Ok my husband was the most wonderful person in th world, not only did I have the first release of runes but he also bought me a soft cover relase of the book so it would not be so hard on me to hold the heavy book.....then he out does himself he got me what we belive to be a Proof version of the book. Now I am hopeing that it is the real deal but I am about to embark and read the book for the third time so that I can see if there is any differences. Now my question is that to anyones knowlege did these proofs exist? it looks like it could be because on the pages the maps are soposed to be it states "maps to come" and it is a differnt cover all black and it reads "25 years ago, there was only one fantasy series that outsold Tolkien's The lord of the rings..." anyone have any ideas?

There were proofs (Advance Reader Copies) made of Runes (both UK editions and US editions). To my knowledge, the US version actually has "uncorrected manuscript" or something written on the front, but I don't think the UK copy does. Not sure if there are differences between the ARC's and the actual published manuscript. I have a UK copy but haven't had the heart to do anything but keep it sealed away.
