The following is from the book,
Uncle John's Great Big Bathroom Reader. The specific couple of pages is called
Modern Mythology. I couldn't resist sharing!
JUAN VALDEZ. "This is the tale of Juan Valdez / Stubborn man, as the story says / Lives way up on a mountaintop / Growing the finest coffee crop." In the early 1960's, about 25% of all coffee sold in America came from Colombia, but consumers didn't know it. So Colombian coffee-growers hired an ad agency to make Americans aware of their product. The agency hired New York singer Jose Duval and sent him to Colombia with a film crew. Clothed in traditional garb - a "mulera" (shawl), a straw sombrero, white pants and shirt - Jose was fimled picking coffee beans and leading a bean-laden burro down mountain trails. It was a huge success - people in New York greeted Duval with "Hi, Juan" wherever he went. Today, a stylized picture of Juan Valdez is part of the Colombian coffee logo.

He just posted recently. IIRC, it's in one of the seemingly infinite threads by or dedicated to Zeph, but I don't remember which.

It was nice to see him again.

"In response to you Fist....."
Due to recent ...events....."Zeph"....*cough*............I was faced with an ultimatum...either...abandon my post...as the guardian of the watch...the shadow of this realm......or register.....and continue my service.............
I choose to honor my personal vow....and uphold truth...here on the watch....and to protect the great people that frequent this place.....from bastrel scoundrelistic burds..of little worth...and..lesser girth.......bastrels like ....oh..................zeph!
I will be no more or less present than I have ever been......I am still here....
