Reaper's Gale (Book 7, 7th May 2007)

Post by I'm Murrin »

Discussion and speculation for the seventh Tale of the Malazan Book of the Fallen can go in here.

Erikson has stated in interviews and elsewhere that the series will be more linear following The Bonehunters, and that the action will move outside of the Malazan Empire for the rest of the series. He has also confirmed that Reapers Gale will take place on the continent of Lether, previously seen in Midnight Tides.

Latest news:
-The publication date for Reaper's Gale has been confirmed as being in March 2007.
-According to Patch/Kallor, the inside source at the Malazan Empire forums, Erikson has finished writing the seventh book and is off to a good start on book eight, Toll the Hounds already. There is some possibility of the seventh book's prologue being posted online in the next few months.

Thank the gods!

It would almost have to be more linear from here on out. We're talking book 7 of 10, after all, and at *some* point he's gotta pull all of these stories together.

Got my copy today! Only about 50 pages into it, but it's good so far. Probably my favorite mix of characters in the series. :D

Finished Reaper's Gale last night, and was a little disappointed.

Waited the whole damn book for
Spoiler
Kasa's fight with the Emperor
which I knew was coming since I already read TtH, and in the end so little time was devoted to it.

Ah well, still enjoyed it a lot overall.

Yeah, it's true. But since I had thought of that solution, I can't blame him for having come up with it too.

Wasn't the solution that bothered me. Just how...unimportant it seemed when it finally happened.
Spoiler
Karsa does rock though.

Yeah, I know what you mean. But really, he was a spoiled little brat. A freakin' hugely POWERFUL spoiled little brat, but still. He deserved to be dismissed out of hand.

Hmmm...good point. (Course, I've read them backwards...only now in Midnight tides am I seeing how he got there in the first place.)

Just finished Reaper's Gale and I think it's the best one since MoI.

The ending seemed a bit rushed, and yeah, Karsas fight with Rhulad was over before it began. After waiting 800 odd pages for it it went odf pretty damn quick.

Icarium just disappears after his machine breaks down after destroying a bunch of sh*t in the span of "a dozen hearbeats."

Seeing Trull get killed so meaninglessly by this pathetic low-budget character pissed me off beyond belief too.

And Karsas goes to confront the Crippled God and all he does is turn down the sword. I expected him to beat the crap out of the CG. Maybe he can't destroy him and solve everyone's problem, but he could at least have punished the SoB.
