The Final Battle?

Where will it take place?

Who will be there?

The outcome?

Will the outcome be concrete or up for interpritation?

----------------------------------------------------------

It is my belief that the final battle will take place on Mt. Thunder.

Linden, TC (maybe Berek), Joan, Roger (still Raving), Lord Foul, a host of Hairuchi, ramen, elohim, sandgorgons, and various malign characters including Kresh, my fiancee who calls me a "Class A Nerd" for this, demondum, etc....

The Arch of Time will be brought down, intentionally by Linden, because it does not avail you to avoid his traps. Ultimately Lord Foul is the creators problem, and he is the one who needs to take responsibility for him.

I believe the outcome will be up for personal interpretation, returning to the question of weather or not the land is real or TC is just in his personal battle against leperosy which he visualizes as the Land and all the battles...

yay speculation... give us something to talk about forever...

I believe the final battle will be Nom vs. Vain. Maybe not in the exact physical state that we remember them, but in some fashion or other.

(You didn't expect a serious answer, did you?) :P

Well, I'm outta here before someone gives a truly serious answer, gets it exactly right, and ruins the Last Chronicles for everyone else...

What I think,

The three ravers will join into one and form a great Godzilla like beast! That will crash into Revelstone and all the Hurachi will run around after being emasculated by Linden yelling "Godzirra!"

But it's just something I saw on TV once

The final battle will be between Mahdoubt and the Haruchi, only they will battle over whose fashion sense is better. It will get ugly. very ugly...until Heidi Klum tells that for her clashing styles and colors, the Mahdoubt it ....out.

The final battle will be between Angus Thermopyle and Darsint, who both fell from their own worlds into the Land through a caesure that skipped a dimension. Ginny Fistoulari will referee, and will be revealed as Linden's long-lost sister.

Call it Asimov's Law of Retcons: A famous author is not permitted to die or retire until he has tied ALL his books together into one great big Frankenstein's monster of a storyline, no matter how stupid the result. ;)

All the hospital staff along with his friends and family that he has incorporated into his dream.

I agree with the ending you've selected HLT, but in regaurds to my questions I don't believe it fits the best... I meant the Final battle in the Land although I see what you mean it being the Final Battle within Covenant....

That's how I hope the last pages read anyway.

But I have to reread Runes again.
What is the goal for Linden this time in regards to saving the Land?
Do we even know who the adversary that needs to be battled is yet?
It doesn't seem to be Foul.
He pretty much says he's sitting this one out and just letting it happen this time.
So there's no final confrontation with him at the end.

I think it's going to be Linden vs TC.
But why or how?
I have no clue.

Somewhere in the ending Lord Foul will reveal that he is Covenant's father. I just know it.

OK, here is a thought on the final battle:

I have always operated under the assumption that TC had a hand in creating the Land, although inadvertently, say as a catalyst. I think events in TC's life have parellel events in the Land, and there was some defining moment in his existence that caused the birth of the Land and all else in it.

If this were the case, then perhaps the final battle is the closure, the answer or solutiuon of the act in Covenant's life that sparked the Land's creation; some fundamental (Universal) resolution that Covenant finally realizes and commits to that also resolves the conflicts of the Land. Of course, this resolution would mean the end of the Land and everything in it. That kind of sounds like TC's earleir revelation that him and Foul were intertwined, that despite was in us all.

Comments?

That is a lot to consider. The fact that joan while wearing the white gold created caesures by hitting herself suggests that white gold is a conduit to the land. Mhoram's realization that TC is white gold suggests a physical link between TC and the land.

However, the presence of the creator in the the 6 books suggests another player in the creation of the land entirely.

Yet consider that Despite is within all of us; and that Foul, the personification of Despite, is an aspect of Covenant as we learned at the end of WGW; But there is also good and hope in all of us, personified by the creator; could not the Creator also be an aspect of Covenant?

If so, perhaps there are no external players.....

Well we know of at least two, TC and Linden. The story is comprised of their two point of views. So I highly doubt the "Dallas" ending.

The final battle (today at least) will actually be between me and my desire for a pre-sleep bowl of Coco Puffs. I hope to overcome.
