"Yep, apparently that's what they'll be calling the all-new "Terminator" TV series -- and I'd probably be a whole lot more skeptical about this project were it not for the involvement of director David Nutter and screenwriter Josh Friedman.

From Variety: "Warner Bros. TV has set David Nutter to direct the pilot for "The Sarah Connor Chronicles," prompting Fox Broadcasting to officially greenlight production on the "Terminator"-themed project.

Nutter, whose last 12 pilots have all been picked up to series, also will serve as exec producer. Andy Vajna and Mario Kassar's C2 Pictures, which produced the most recent "Terminator" feature, is producing with Warner Bros. TV. Fox made a put pilot commitment to "Connor" last fall (Daily Variety, Nov. 10), picking up the script from exec producer Josh Friedman ("War of the Worlds"). Kassar and Vajna will also exec produce.

As outlined in Friedman's script, new installment in the "Terminator" franchise revolves around robo-warrior Connor and her savior son, John Connor. C2 senior veepee of development James Middleton, who's a producer on the project, said last fall that "Connor" will explore what happened to Sarah Connor after the end of "T2," when the character went on the run."

(Someone please explain to me how it's easier to type "veepee" than "VP.")

Pilot episodes directed by Mr. Nutter include those for "Supernatural," "Jack & Bobby," "Without a Trace," "Smallville," "Dark Angel," and "Roswell.""
David Nutter is a genius, but this has got so much suck potential it's scary.

It is very scary indeed. The terminator stuff is pretty played out.

I dunno. I actually enjoyed T3 and would watch a T4.

I just don't care about what Sarah did after T2.

I guess by played out I mean the whole "going back to the past to save the future thing". Man versus machines. That sort of thing. Yawn.

Yeah, me too.
Sara Conner was actually one of the worst things about T2 (although I loved her in T1).
I was glad she was removed from T3, which by the way, I thought was awesome and wrapped up all the loose ends wonderfully.

Exactly. I find T2 nearly unwatchable anymore because of her and the uber-annoying Eddie Furlong.

T3 had its moments, but T2 still rules my action movie universe (yes, even with squeaky-voiced Eddie Furlong).

This TV show doesn't really interest me...but if I happen to see it while channel surfing, I'll stop to check it out.
