So Findail mentions that Berek placed the original Gaurdian of the One Tree. And Prothal mentions that Damelon Giantfriend reigned when the the Unhomed first came to the Land. What I want to knwo is, without the use of the Giants dromonds how did Berek travel to the Isle of the One Tree and palce the first Gaurdian? Was the art of building huge ships like that lost in the desecration?

Well, The One Tree seems to be be able to move about once someone has been to it. Such as how it dissapears after TC and the group have been there.
So perhaps it wasnt out in the ocean when Berek found it?

Refresh my memory, from what I remember the Isle sank after a branch was nearly snapped from its trunk. I didn't make the connection that the Isle sank on purpose, i thought the strain was too great.

Heh i havent read it in a while either
I got the impression that it moved, either once somebody had found it, or after the Gaurdian had been defeated.

Ok for clarification, the island sank due to the worm of the earth SETTLING back in after being roused, and nope SRD didn't say how Kevin got there to begin with.I would imagine the Elohim had something to do with that they were out and about at that point in history..........

I think it was Berek who appointed the Gaurdian, but thats a good point about the Elohim. Mabye when Berek first attuned into the Earthpower, the Eohim felt this new taping, and came to investigate. Something like the haruchai with Kevin. Perhaps Berek won them over and they led the way to the Isle.

Wait, ok first off did Kevin ever make it to the Island? I thought Berek went there and got the staff and no one else did...
Ok, anyway, is the guardian a Haruchai originally or did the guardian and the Haruchai just "identify" with each other strongly, and feel an urge to fight each other without any sort of backhistory? If it's the former than Berek can't have appointed the guardian because the first lord the Haruchai knew was Kevin.

In WGW Findail states it was Berek that placed the Guardian at the One Tree, so that "...the vital wood of the world would not be again touched in that way..."
No mention was made how Berek found the One Tree, nor how he created the Guardian.
However, the Haruchai had a legend of the existence of Ak Haru Kenaustin Ardenol, and that whoever were to defeat him in combat would be the "supreme Haruchai" (my words) and top dog.
We know that the Haruchai didn't come to the Land until High Lord Kevin's time.
Pure speculation on my part, but I am guessing maybe an Elohim tipped off the Haruchai - they were the only ones capable of that type of travel.
I'll also bet that the Elohim helped Berek in his quest for the One Tree - not out of charity but rather to give Berek a tool to do their fighting for them.
<shrug> My guess is as good as any, I suppose...

From the GI:
I wrote:We've been debating ak-Haru Kenaustin Ardenol's origin. Any chance you're willing to help us out? I don't know if it would be a spoiler to do so. Some think the Guardian was not aHKA until Brinn "conceived" of him that way. Some think aHKA was not originally a Haruchai. Some (me

think aHKA was always Haruchai, and took on the job as the Guardian after Berek met him somewhere or other, and explained how important the job was.
SRD wrote:More interesting, I think, is the question of how the Haruchai even know of Kenaustin Ardenol's existence. Nothing in the record (i.e. the first six "Covenant" books) suggests that the Haruchai were aware of the Lords in the Land prior to Kevin's time--and if they had ever had any dealings with, say, Berek, they certainly *would* have been aware of the Lords. So we can probably assume: a) Kenaustin Ardenol him/her/itself was not Haruchai; b) the Haruchai know of the existence of this being (which, by the way, is not the same as knowing of the existence of the Guardian of the One Tree) through some interaction outside the known history of the Land; and c) this interaction gave rise to the supreme Haruchai honorific "ak-Haru". More than that I can't say at the moment. The Earth is a whole lot bigger than the Land, and (like the Land) it's full of stories. I can't possibly tell them all.

So whats probobly going is that the elohim most likeley told both the haruchai and Berek part of the Isle of the One Tree. For the haruchai nothing was know except a legend of a master gaurdian, one who would test all haruchai abilities and beliefs. For Berek, the knowledge opf the One Tree itself and, most likley, travel to the Isle itself.
This sound about right?

So, basically, the Guardian can't be a Haruchai. If Berek placed the Guardian there, and the Haruchai weren't around the Lords until Kevin's time...
That begs the question: Who (or what) was the Guardian?
Who would Berek have known that was as powerful, or more powerful, than a Haruchai? Could the Guardian have been an Elohim? Maybe an earlier Appointed? Doesn't really sound like it, but who knows?

***Let's start a conspirasy!!
If Kenaustin Ardenol was not an Haruchai, then what was he...?
Hmmmm...let's look at his name..
Ken Austin Ardenal.
-Sounds like he's from the real world to me!!
Probebly some distant relative of Joan, the one who gave her the idea of using White Gold as her wedding rings...
Or he's the guy who Covenant contracted his LEprocy from in the first place.
