Sunbane

All righty then, I've got another question that popped up today in my brains: Was the Sunbane already beginning when TC showed up in LFB? OK before everybody flips out listen to the rationalization......
First in Berek's,Loric's, and Kevin's day all seven wards were mastered and Earthpower was at it's peak, then the new Lords showed up after the ROD and Invoked the Oath of Peace,by doing so, there was nobody who could master even the first ward, let alone the other six. So,by logic wouldn't that mean the ground work for the Sunbane started before TC? Before Mhoram? Yes,yes i know Mhoram found the key to the wards, but didn't use them, but, doesn't that further the Sunbane? Hasten the arrival time? Didn't that further twist the Earthpower into what it wasn't?
Comments??

I may be wrong (and probobly rusty) but i thought that Foul caused the Sunbane, it wasnt a natural decline of Earthpower, it was something unnnatrual.

The Sunbane was caused by poisoned or corrupted Earthpower rising up from the earth. The light of the sun, on its own completely harmless, was filtered through this corrupted Earthpower into the Sunbane as we knew it.
Since Foul used Earthpower to recover from his first defeat at Covenant's hands, it is likely that he caused this corruption from which the Sunbane came.

As I recall it, it was the breaking of the Staff of Law that weakened Earthpower just enough for Foul to be able to use it to heal himself, and then to create the Sunbane.

Foul used Earthpower to heal himself!? I thought it was more like Foul-regeneration. Man I am rusty!

Didnt he hide near Melenkurion Skyweir? Healing himself using the large amounts of Earthpower there.
Mabye i just imagined he did.

We aren't told exactly where Foul rejuvenated himself, only that he did so by using Earthpower. I agree with Kaos - their could have been no Sunbane while the original Staff of Law existed.

So when the Staff was crated, it took a previously stable element of Earthpower just floating aroudn the land and, what, trapped it in the wood itelf? So that the Staff itself was the stable element? Seems almost stupid of Berek to do.

Read the Soothtell chapter of
The Wounded Land. It's all in there. The destruction of the Staff weakened Earthpower enough to heal Foul, permit the Lords after Mhoram to heal the Land more than ever before, and then create the Sunbane.

That wasn't quite the point I was trying to make. What I meant was that whereas before Earthpower was impenatrable because its defenses were just floating around. After Berek took that defense and thrust it into the Staff, it tooka form that could be destoryed and permanatly alter the land or the Earthpower itself.

Not really Balon. The Staff of Law was created to be the physical pillar in the Land. The SOL UPHELD the Law,it within itself wasn't the Law,only the support. When High Lord Elena broke the Law of Death she opened the door to the weakening of the Law itself.Remember, the Earthblood was Earthpower concentrated in one place,so when that much Earthpower was brought to wield against the Law and BROKE the Law the door was opened for the pillar itself to break. So,weakened as it was when the SOL was shattered it was the Law itself of ALL the wards that broke, not just the SOL...........
