I hope it is okay for me to post my poems here. . . Please enjoy.
Tonight
Tonight I saw the stars gather,
quite formally, around the moon.
The atmosphere was unexpectedly serious
as they took positions in the sacred ritual, star by star.
As the blue-silver light touched the evening,
shadows unraveled in its path and
a hush drifted down over us.
You turned to speak,
but even your reverent whispers
were too loud.
All words were stolen
as a star tumbled from its pedestal
and died.
We watched, transfixed, as others rushed to their end.
Across the sea another tragedy unfolds.

Like Lot
Your immutable goodbye
Rings like a cell door closing,
A chapter ending.
I recall your last kiss—
A chaste grazing of lips,
Seemingly without portent.
You straighten, your face
Set in some inscrutable intent,
And stride to the gate,
Like Lot,
Never looking back.

Late January, raining.
Late January, raining.
Headlights scatter in droplets
Across my windshield—
Alone again.
Wipers dance, and hypnotize
In steady time—intermittent
Like my thoughts of you.
God, for mercy
Took me far from you.
Still too close—your voice
Aches my heart.
God, for mercy
Take me farther still!
Loose me, let me drink
The liquor of the Lethe.
Hell is not forgetting,
But remembering.

Of course it's alright. That's what the Hall is for.
I like the last and the second best I think. Stumbled a bit over the rythym of the first.
Nice image in the second, and great scene in the last.

I agree with Avatar, I like the second and third one best. The third one in particularly is very evocative

Soooo nice!
I love the second one, you write really well and would love to read more.
A also agree with Av that the rythym was hard to follow in the first one, but the imagry was nonetheless, beautiful.

Thanks. I know that the first isn't as poetic as the others, but I wanted to include something that wasn't related to a relationship.
I'll do some looking and see if I can find some others that are apropriate to share here.

Okay. . . I hope this isn't too graphic. . . let me know if it isn't appropriate, and I will take it down.
No Panacea
With bated breath
She draws the blade
carefully, so carefully
across her pale wrist.
An instant of anticipation,
then the blood begins to flow.
It beads: bright rubies
in the midst of snow.
The anguish lessens,
but it is not enough.
Again she wields the razor.
Another wound appears.
Soon she will understand
there is not skin enough
to assuage her pain,
or staunch her tears.

Sometimes
Sometimes I marvel
how intimately you
know my darkness—
that silent space
where pain lies chained, apart.
I thought I hid it well.
You came a stranger,
with words that glittered in the starlight—
beautiful and sharp.
They sought that silent place:
fathomed at once
it was twin to yours.
Now my pain sings with
your words so elegant
and true that
sometimes I marvel
how intimately you
know my darkness
when I do not know your face.

I don't like this one as much as some others of mine, but I keep it to remember the circumstance.
Bereft
They see us,
Standing close as lovers,
Voices pitched low,
Presumably sharing delicious intimacies,
Encased in a shining binary world.
Only, our globe is fragile,
The gulf between us wide.
The arching crystal bridge
Shattered by my hand
Precisely, without warning.
I watch the hope in your eyes
Flicker, fade, die.
Suddenly, I am bereft,
Though I lost something I never had
Or even wanted.
My mouth apologizes,
Then we embrace one last, first time.
Polite as strangers,
We smile joylessly
And turn to leave.

Lyr, they say in the most dire of circumstances is when a human really shines. These writings are definately beacons in the dark.None are too graphic,a reminder to us all that as people we have a myriad of emotions to deal with. These are the same.......to let someone else gaze, however briefly, deep into one's soul is the true art of the poet. Many heartfelt thanx for a glimpse into true beauty, into innocence that we all still carry.

I don't have many (if any) happy poems. I am very critical of my own writing --most especially when I write about happy subjects. I think I sound too sacharine, too artifical, treacly as the Irish put it. Thus happy poems never survive. It is only the darker ones that make it. I think with them it doesn't matter so much if they are good (in my opinion), but I write them to get the feelings out of me. Because of that, I feel as though I have to keep the darker ones. Hope that makes sense. . .

Thank you. I am fascinated by stars, and every year I try to catch the Perseid meteor shower at least one night (in August). This poem comes out of an experience of watching that meteor shower.

The stars can make any night magical, all the more so in the right company.
