Lost Season 3

I enjoyed it a lot. Some observations:
1) I'd be willing to bet a large sum that the Stephen King book that Juliane was reading was "The Stand" (superflu good vs. evil)
2) It seems that by saying "Sawyer and Jack" to Ben (Henry), kate made her choice and is now paired up with Sawyer. She is to be impreginated I believe, but in so doing (with Sawyer)..won't she get herpes?
3) Jack is far more damaged than we were led to believe.
4) It is unclear whether The survivors of 815 had research done on them prior to or after the crash. That was a large dossier that Julie had on Jack.
5) Sayid is goingto kick some big time tail. And BTW....why has he not come up as a possible Bannor in the movie thread?

... Well, it's better than being a doofus-ridden mistake.

Good observations. I like "The Stand" idea; I was wondering what book it might be myself. I liked the season opener, too. Great shot of the plane breaking apart and then Ben sending off Goodwin and Evan (might have messed up the names) to do their seperate duties on the survivors.
Yes, Jack is a cryin fool; that is getting so old. Maybe we will see him in Hurley's flashback at the insane asylum. I kept hoping that Kate was going to stab Ben with a fork before he left the table.
Question: The song that the lady put on at the beginning, Petula Clark's Downtown...was that the same singer who Desmond was listening to the first Ep of Season 2?

Ethan (it really freaked me out seeing him again!) not Evan. Now we know where the polar bear came from

1) I thought she said her name was Juliet. . . and you know how everything means something in this show.

And on the Fuselage (a Lost website) everyone is identifying the book as
Carrie.
2) I get the sense that whatever Kate wants, she will not get. . . as in, they will use Sawyer as a lever against her. And impregnated? I'd bet she'd be impregnated with Ben's baby if anything. . . I mean, when she was taken to the cage she had sores on her wrists from resisting against the handcuffs. . . what was she resisting? And did you see her face? She was in emotional pain. I immediately wondered if Ben had raped her. The dress. . . the breakfast. . . all a setup. I could be wrong. . . but the thought did go through my head.
3) Yes, Jack is extremely high-strung and obsessive. But I already knew that after watching 2 seasons.

I like him anyway.
4) My guess is the research was done afterward. How could they know which people would live and which ones would die? Wouldn't it be easier to take the flight manifest and take the requested "reports" from the men and get the dossiers?
5) Sayid is
hot. That is all.
I adore Lost. . . it's one of about 3 fictional television shows I watch.

Everything else is educational, or an occasional reality tv show like Amazing Race.

Here's what I get.
You don't lock people up unless you want something from them. But they don't need information: they already know everything there is to know about Jack. Therefore, they need their bodies rather than their knowledge.
And I think the fact that they were all injected has something to do with making them suggestable. Juliet did warn Jack about Halucinations. I think she was trying to blame it on not eating, but that's not the cause at all.
And my wife turned to me, at the end of the episode, and said "I hope someone kills her", refering to Juliet.

I looked again... the book is NOT the Stand.... It was a very skinny book. May have been "The Gunslinger"....
I don't think the first song on season 2 was a Petula Clark song.

I"ve read a lot of posts at the Fuselage, and looked at screen captures, and I'm pretty well convinced that the book is Carrie. After all, it deals with a young girl who has telekinetic powers. . . just like our Walt.
Anyhow, if you'd like to really get into some deeper analysis of Season three shows, check this out:

Here are some thoughts on the 1st episode of S#:
It seems that the first episode actually answered al ot of questions..in my judgement at least.
1) There are two sets of "others". Ben/Henry sent Ethan and Goodwin to each side of the island, saying it would take a "day" to get to each location. However, on the very first night, some kids were stolen from the tail section. Also, Ethan and Goodwin were sent ALONE, not with groups of people.
2) It seems that the Dharma thing was to be a utopian society/experiment...at least in part. However, something has gone very wrong...perhaps having to do with children. I don't recall seeing any at their village.
3) Kate and Jack were immunized or blood was taken, or both. She seems to have been paired with Sawyer for what appears to be breeding.
4) Sayid will be kicking some major tail, mark my words!

Nah, Goodwin was only supposed to take an hour to get there. The tail section crashed in "Others' territory. Ethan is the one who ahd to travel a day.
What is this that everyone keeps saying about Sawyer having Herpes? Where did that come up in the show? All I recall is people trashing AnaLucia on the baords saying he was gonna get Herpes from her.
I dooubt anyone raped kate
yet. She was treated well so she had something to hold onto during the next two weeks of hell. If she ahd been raped immediately, she wouldn't have the good times to hold onto.

Even so...both were sent alone. AND the kids seem to be separated from the group of Benry-led others (recall the grubby legged, teddy-bear carriers). Two seperate "others" works for other reasons as well, including Zeke's assertion that they are the "good guys". I could be all wet too.
I don't think Kate has been raped. When I say Breeding I mean that she, not unlike the Star trek episode the Menagerie, has been paired with Sawyer with the expectation that they will breed or can be forced to breed. In a prior episode Sawyer himself admitted to Jack he had herpes.

Actually the kids were taken on day/night 7 along with many other people by many shoeless Others. Eko killed two shoeless guys on day/night 1, but I don't think anyone else was taken, maybe one or two other tail people. But I like the idea of two seperate Other camps; Ethan and Goodwin we now know came from Bens group who had ..well..shoes. Perhaps Goodwin was as surprized as the other tailies that the Shoeless Others kidnapped people so soon on Night 1.
Maybe the first night of kidnapping by the shoeless Others made Ben's group realize they needed to get some of the tailies for themselves, which happened on day 7...a few days after Goodwins note to Ben. The only thing wrong with that is that we see that the kidnappers on night 7 were also shoeless....Hmmmm
Anyway, I agree that there is at least two Other camps, which I didn't consider before. By the time of late season 2 they must have merged into one.

Still doesn't prove anything. Goodwin did make his list, and since he was only an hour away from "Otherville", very easy for him to have slipped back with the list, and for them to have come collecting right away.
It's just too much of a coincidence that the other group of "others" also made a list. Who was there representative who made the list? But, then as someone pointed out in the Swan station after Danielle gave Ben to Sayid as a gift, Danielle was right, even if he wasn't the type of "Other" they were thinking of, because anyone not in your group is an "Other". So, we have Danielle, we had the Tailees, we had the Fusies, and we have at least one group we call the "Others", entirely possible there are more people on this spiderweb of an island.

I liked season 3 premier lots and lots more than season 2 finale. I f***ing hated, hated the season 2 finale, thought it was boring waste of time, and it almost put me off watching the premier.

I think the guy who called it "Sci fi" did so in the way an elitist would call ALL SK's work "Sci fi". His mention of religion was interesting. Given the size of the book she held, I am guessing it was the first Dark Tower Book, "The Gunslinger"...or, perhaps "Silver Bullet".

Never know, it could be the Dharma Initiative Book Club edition.

Really, you hated the Finale and thought it was boring? I quite enjoyed it myself.
LOL Syl.
