What do you think will happen in the Third Chronicles?
- We know that Linden has a child, I think its a son, but I can't remember. (That child has a mental defect which name I cannot spell)
- The Ranyhyn are back
- The child is stolen
- Linden is the main character (there maybe others, but I'm doing a Hashi and dealing only with facts)
- Donaldson has mentioned that there is some description on Joan and Thomas' relationship. Implying that Joan or someone who is connected to Joan (Maybe Roger) is within the story; I do not think that Thomas is the reason these things appear, because he has talked to Linden about it before, and also we have read it from his POV for six books; so there's no reason he should elaborate on such things now
Thinking also on matters that would change the future of the Land that are stated in the Second Chronicles, we know:
- The Haruchai are at Revelstone, and that most if not all of the Haruchai people we go to live there.
- Nom (Just typing the name is cool) sets the Sandgorgons(sp?) free.
- Thomas is dead and is not protecting the arch of time. There Foul cannot get want his final goal has always been
- I think it is save to say that the Ur-viles, while still violent, are good guys.
- There's a SoL
- Law of life is broken
- Sunder, Hollian and Milton become something other than human.
- Cail goes to find the Merewives
- Linden became the White Gold Wielder
There are things that I have missed out, no doubt, but what do you think will happen, who's in it, what role will they play, what type of evil will the good guys be fighting? An all out war or something like the Sunbane.

Just do no one goes off track, I am going to stress the word think; not want or hope. If you wish to give your opinion on the latter, please do not write it here, because there are loads of other places you can discuss those things.

Milton??

Well, I can guess that the story take place at least 2000 years later (land time), no less, probably a lot more. Linden has adopted an Autistic child who is taken into the Land with her but they are separated - the boy is sent somewhere else by Foul, possibly even stays with Foul.
The giants have an active relationship with the Land, with ships travelling to and from Home often, and Coercri repopulated.
As for Ramen - we don't know if she meets them within the Land, but it seems likely - the Ranyhyn will have sensed the end of the Sunbane.
I think Linden will refuse to ride - she runs with the Ranyhyn, we know, and may come to the same understanding as the Ramen have...

Now I'm going to skip to the conflict... Foul will torment her with thoughts of what is happening to the child - and I anticipate a little work by Moksha or Turiya in the conclusion, possibly with one controlling the child to try and push her over the edge...


Edit: Hmm... i've just looked at the timescale I gave and then the stuff after it... it just seems too cosy... I said 2000 years because that was accounting for Foul venting-time, but the things I said about the Land seem to be more like the first 100 years... I'm out of ideas...

I've seen that name mentioned before on this site, but still can't figure out its origins. Can anyone shed some light?

hey murrin, where did u get that info about woy happens in the third chrons? it sounds v detailed. have u been talking to SRD or something?

I still say Milton is a perfect name for a character from the Chrons (paradise lost being a frequent theme).

The only thing we know about the plot at all so far is from Donaldson talking about it and reading excerpts at conventions, etc. We know Linden has adopted an Autistic child, we know she goes into the Land to save the child from Foul, and we know that at some point she runs with the Ranyhyn. That's about it.

paradise lost? once again i am totally & utterly lost. milton, new zealand is hicksville central, so i assume that ur talking about some 1 or thing else caer sylvanus.

Well, i have been to high school, at Uni now in fact, and i haven't read Paradise Lost

There are so many 'literary classics' out there, how does one keep up...

thanx earthfriend. high school english teachers in nz aren't big on classics danlo. i was there 4 5 whole years & i didnt read 1. wait, does chaim potok count? my teacher raved about him like the book was a classic.
