It's funny how he likes to use a word as a proper name and as just a word itself. He says "assail" an awful lot, and in RG, I'm noticing "mock" a lot, too (Mock's Keep, the Mockers, Mockra). There are a few other words that he uses both ways, too, but I can't think of them at the moment.

Edit: Remembered a couple of others: Errant (duh!) and Torrent.

Well done Mr Erikson! You made it to page 439 of Toll The Hounds before using potsherds!

He's also a writer, would use of a thesaurus be too much to ask?

Exactly. How does an archaeologist who is writing about ruins of ancient civilizations go 439 pages without using the word potsherds? When is the word faith first used in the Bible?

I bet Erikson is subscribed to a 'word of the day' mailing list. Toll the Hounds has the word 'ephemeral' once every few pages. People are scowling (slightly) less, though.

Being fairly early on in the series, this phrase appears a lot!

Karsa often bares his teeth, but says nothing...

They also scowl a lot!

Y'know, I couldn't think of a single one. I've never noticed overuse of words in these books. I should never have read this thread. Bastards. ;)
