Icky bad sunburn

Does anyone know the best way to treat a sunburn? I admit it, I'm an idiot - I sat fishing in a bathing suit for a couple of hours with no sunscreen.  And now, four days later, my shoulders are covered in tiny little blisters that pop and ooze gross yellow gunk. :E :E :E For the past two days or so I've been sticking solely with this wonderful stuff called Bactine, an antisceptic/anesthetic spray. It helps with the pain, and hopefully will fight infection, but it doesn't seem to be aiding actual healing. Any ideas?

You can all make fun of me as much as you want to. I totally deserve it. :screwy:

Cool baths and rub the juice of the aloe vera plant on it. That works wonders. :)

dont feel like and idiot, birdandbear; cuz then i will..i was in a pool for 9 hours straight one time without sunscreen and i paid for it! baseball sized blisters on my shoulders. theres a cream you can get a prescription for called silvadine cream or something like that and it works very well. other than that, follow infelice's advice. sorry to hear about your unfortunate luck. hope you feel better.

You want to know about sunburn - ask an Aussie! 8) Were experts, and weve got the highest rate of skin cancer in the world to prove it! :?

There's a product called 'Bepanthen'. Technically, it's for women who get cracked and sore nipples - but you can also use it for burns of any kind. Top stuff!!!

If that 'gross yellow gunk' turns Foul, birdandbear, i also recomend a trip to your GP... :D

Fishing with all that sun reflection in a bathing suit? Use the aloe, but if it keeps up oozing yellow gook the best thing to do is go see the doc. Sounds like you need to pack some heavy sunscreen when you go out.

I would agree with those who say to go see a doc. You DO NOT need to get an infection going! :(

Hmm, I'm unable to get sunburned. My skin just won't burd, no matter how long I stay in the sun.

I agree with duchess. You don't need to get an infection going. :?

Hmmmmmm......last I heard was that Queensland was the skin cancer capital of the world, but I have been known to be wrong in the past.

Its not a title to be particularly proud of though :(

Hope the sunburn heals swiftly b&b. :D

I think F&F was just trying to get all the facts so as to determine the best course of action. Selfless! :)

Well, a week to the day after my folly in the sun, my shoulders and upper back are sporting a whole shiny (and still pretty red) new hide. The blisters stopped oozing, and sort of scabbed over, so that for a couple of days I had a serious case of lizard skin, but that stuff's mostly peeled off now, and I can almost raise my arms all the way over my head again. It itches like crazy though! I called the doctor and he said to soak in a bathtub with vinegar. :!: It seems to have helped. Thanks for the advice everybody! :D

And sorry boys, it was a one-piece.
