My publisher sister sends me tidbits from Craigslist now and then. I thought I would pass this one on, and use the thread again if I find others.

The story site Common Ties has been publishing personal stories to rave reviews since mid-October. Help provide readers with a unique blend of intimate, humorous, tragic, and inspirational stories by submitting your own today. Typical payment per story is between $100 and $200 and, in exceptional cases, can reach $1,000. For more information check out the stories, the about page, and the submission guidelines.

We run general stories Monday through Thursday and special themes on Fridays. We are looking for compelling college stories - from current students or from people reflecting on their college days - to run as a special theme on January 5th, 2007. We will run holiday stories on December 18th and then break for the New Year.

Some of the site's most popular stories currently include:

If There Were Magic Words
Thanksgiving in Vietnam
You Have the Right to an Attorney
An Unlikely Encounter
Life in a Christian Cult

Common Ties also encourages humorous stories.

Don't feel embarrassed. . . I need a fire lit underneath me from time to time! I wrote for the university newspaper during my undergrad days, and having a deadline--and the lure of being paid by the article--always got me percolating! :D
