Songs to be dumped by

OK, I think that when someone gets dumped, they should listen to a cd of songs that are really sad where relationships are concerned. Things like
Auld Lang Syne by Dan Fogleberg and
Two Out of Three Ain't Bad by Meatloaf.
And here's
Love Disappears, by Jeffrey Gaines.
I was gathering all the things I had to tell you
And found that there were more things I had to hide
Like lovers and tears
Doubts and fears
Inside me
'cause when you're away
There's nothing to say at all
'cause when you're not here
Love disappears
I was dreaming of the last time we lie together
Seems whenever I need you you're across the sea
Pressured by peers
Sometimes it appears
You don't want me
'cause when you're away
I've nothing to say at all
'cause when you're not here
Love disappears
(musical interlude)
'cause frame after frame
The dream ends the same
Without you
'cause when you're away
I've not much to say at all
'cause when you're not here
Love disappears

Nice topic!
next time i get dumped, i want it to be to Tom Waits;
I'm singing this song, cause it's time it was sung
I've bin putting it off, for awhile
But its hard to find out, when the truth is so clear
That i cry, when i'm seeing you smile
So goodbye, so-long. The road calls me dear
And your tears cannot bind me anymore
And farewell to the girl, with the sun in her eye
And i kiss you and then i'll be gone.
There are three more verses, but you get the idea..

Yep Damelon, that one says it all.

This is a good topic, F&F, but highly depressing.

When one of my friends dumped his girlfriend, she posted him a minidisc with one track on it: Unbreak my Heart, Toni Braxton.

oh wow- I used to the queen of depressing goth music
let's see....Here's a few verses of "Edge of the Deep Green Sea" by the Cure
Never never never never never let me go she says
Hold me like this for a hundred thousand million days
But suddenly she slows
And looks down at my breaking face
Why do you cry? what did i say?
But it's just rain i smile
Brushing my tears away...
I wish i could just stop
I know another moment will break my heart
Too many tears
Too many times
Too many years i've cried over you
How much more can we use it up?
Drink it dry?
Take this drug?
Looking for something forever gone
But something
We will always want?
How about some Tori Amos' "Tear in Your Hand"
All the world just stopped now
So you say you don't wanna stay together anymore
Let me take a deep breath babe
If you need me, me and Neil'll be hangin' out with the Dream King
Neil says hi by the way
I don't believe you're leaving cause me and Charles Manson like the
same ice cream
I think it's that girl and I think there're pieces of me you've never
seen
Maybe she's just pieces of me you've never seen well
All the world is
All I am
The black of the blackest ocean
And that tear in your hand
All the world is DANGLIN'... danglin'... danglin' for me DARLIN'
You don't know the power that you have
With that tear in your hand
That tear in your hand
Maybe I ain't used to maybes smashing in a cold room cutting my hands
up every time I touch you
Maybe maybe it's time to wave goodbye now
Time to wave goodbye now
I could sing heart break songs all freakin day( I had some overly dramatic teenage years ). Alot of the great artist will center at least one whole album around it.
I never cared much for Hootie and the Blowfish, but "Let Her Cry" comes to mind.

Hit the Road Jack! That'd be a good one.. Today, by the Smashing Pumpkins.. "Today is the greatest day I've ever known, can't wait for tomorrow, I might not live that long"

I would probably listen to something a bit more upbeat to cheer myself up, like Independent Women part 2 by Destiny's Child.

I'd rather go with Eric Carmen's "Don't shed a tear for me, the sun will rise without you."
Or Johnny Rivers (this is a great one), for an even more tragic moment :
"How can you tell me, how much you miss me.
When the last time I saw you, you wouldn't even kiss me.
That rich guy you been seein'
Must have put you down.
So welcome back baby,
To the poor side of town."

depends on ur type... i'd suggest "Kiss The Rain", cant remember who its by... actually been dumped while this was on... kinda helped actually...
another good one would be "Take It Easy" by The Eagles... or... "Blackbird" by The Beatles... or even "These Eyes" by The Who...
or anything funny really... i suggest "The Real Slim Santa" or "Yoda's Sunscreen Song" or even "Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer"...
heh... call me insane if u like

Landwaster, Poor Side of Town is a great choice!
Then there is that old reliable, You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'. I won't post any lyrics since most of us SHOULD be at least somewhat familiar with it.
A little more obscure tho'.......Steppin' by Melanie Safka (of Brand New Key fame)......
You said you were leavin
And I said go on
I don't know exactly what it is
But something went wrong
It wasn't for nothing
It made a sad rhyme
I'm sorry I saw you
I meant to stay blind
And I'm gonna go out steppin' with my new man tonight
Gonna go out steppin' with my new man tonight
If my mother should ask me where you've gone
Gonna tell her that you joined the Marines
And she'll say c'mon
And then she'll start laughing
And so will I
I'm glad that I'm laughing
It's a good way to die
And I'm gonna go out steppin' with my new man tonight
Gonna go out steppin' with my new man tonight
When I finish my laundry and air out my head
Gonna look for another long-haired man to help me make my bed
You know that I'll miss you, but, strangely I'm glad
Gonna make it without you
And that's what's so sad
Gonna make it alone and that's what sad
Gonna make it alone and that's what sad
'Cause you know that I'll miss you
But strangely I'm glad
Gonna make it alone
And that's what's so sad

You Can Live at Home : Husker Du
--------
You're looking for a chance to give your mind a rest
Now please correct me if I'm wrong
The story goes that I'm not terribly impressed
I guess I've known it all along
Walk, walk, walk away, walk keep on walking
Figured it out that I was wasting all my time
And time was eating at my soul
Now I find comfort only somewhere in my mind
Free to pursue another goal
Walk, walk, walk away, walk keep on walking
I can be fine, I can be free
I can beautiful without you torturing me
Walk, walk, walk away, walk keep on walking
You can live at home now, you can live at home now
---------------------------------------------------------
Never Talking To You Again : Husker Du
There are things that I'd like to say
But I'm never talking to you again
There's things I'd like to phrase some way
But I'm never talking to you again
I'm never talking to you again
I'm never talking to you
I'm tired of wasting all my time
Trying to talk to you
I put you down where you belong
But I'm never talking to you again
I'd show you everywhere you're wrong
But I'm never talking to you again
I'm never talking to you again
I'm never talking to you
I'm tired of wasting all my time
Trying to talk to you
Talking to you
I'm never talking to you again
I'm never talking to you
I'm tired of wasting all my time
Trying to talk to you
