We have new additions to the menagerie,2 Russian Tortoises. They are 8 years old,but have an average lifespan of 50 years, they are yet to be named as they will be presented to the rest of the family on Christmas morning. My wife and I have built a 5x5 enviroment for them out of an old bookshelf positioned on its back lined with linoleum with a layer of sand and dirt, burrows made of flower pots,a small pool made of a meat tray, several rocks, and a heat lamp. This in addition to 3 cats,my fat black lab Marcie, and our puppy Shrek.Thankfully the shelled guys eat turnip greens, dandelions and such as that stuff is much cheaper than a 50lb bag of dog food every few weeks.Pics to follow.I am sure that there is already a pet thread, but well here is another.

Haley as a kitten (she's 18 months now). Doesn't she have the most interesting patterns of stripes and swirls?
My roommate's cat Maia (left) and Haley together.

We have two kitties again, now. Morgan (aka the Lady Morgana) is almost two. She's all white except for one or two grey hairs on top of her head.
Last weekend, we adopted Tom (aka Piglet) from the local shelter. He's five months old, mostly black except for a white patch down his nose, on his chest and tummy, and nearly all of his toes. He's a cuddle-cat, very sweet. Right now he's got an eye infection, so he's quickly learning the joys of having goop squirted on his eyeballs three times a day. Poor guy.
I'll try to talk Batty into posting pics. She's far more technologically advanced than I am....
The girls also received a pair of hairless rats as Christmas gifts this year. I am not fully onboard with the idea of rats...so Batty took 'em back to school with her. As long as the RA doesn't find out, everything will be cool.

Naw,they much prefer the tender, green shoots to the tough old greens.

Aww. . . looks like you have a nice menagerie there, SBG! I love all animals, but am espcially partial to cats. Bob is a girl, right? I understand that the gene that makes cats calico almost never is carried on the Y chromosome.
Anyway, darling pets you have there!
