I've seen:
American Beauty
Clerks
Fantasia
Field of Dreams
Good Will Hunting
Forrest Gump
The Wizard of Oz
American Beauty is a great film. The others I'm not that bothered about.

I really don't like "Forrest Gump" or "2001: A Space Odyssey," so I agree with them up there. But "Wizard of Oz"? Come on.

I agree with the list - especially 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Monster's Ball and Nashville stunk! I disagree with A Beautiful Mind...

That list is in the top 20 overrated lists of all time.

I agree with everything except Field of Dreams and Clerks.
I'd also add Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Shawshank Redemption, and The Green Mile.

I'm with you on Eternal Sunshine. I'd like to see a list of the top 20 most under-rated films. RoboCop should be on that list
Oh yes - and any movie with angelina jolie (I am biased)

Vain, Bubba Ho Tep should be on the list of underrated.

its all subjective anyway.
everybody's opinions are just that, opinions.
mine view is that there are one or two films on that list that speak to cultural importance, zeitgeist, that sort of thing, two or three that speak to the history and/or art of filmmaking, a couple that are pretty good adaptations, and one or two on there that are pure crap.
to those who don't like them, they're over-rated by those who do,
to those who DO like them, they're under-rated by those who don't.

What, Singing in the Rain not on that list?! Must be a bogus list....

I'd put Pulp Fiction on that list.
I agree with 2001 and Chicago. I disagree with Wizard of Oz, Field of Dreams and Fantasia.

Your way of expressing gratitude to Phantasm?

Shawshank Redemption? The Green Mile?
Are you
MAD?
They'd be the top 2 in my list of greatest films of all time.
Got to agree that Field of Dreams shouldn't be on that list though.

All of those mentioned so far as 'should have been on...'--except for Singing in the Rain (which I haven't seen)--are ones that are among my favourites, heh.

I don't understand what this has to do with Phantasm. I'm very confused Vain darling....

Quite mad, actually. But that's beside the point. Shawshank was a decent enough film, but is not deserving of all the praise heaped on it. There are (to me, anyway) far more moving films, and far better prison films (The Last Castle, Brubaker). I just don't get the hype.
I thought The Green Mile was so over the top it approached parody. It was as if a bunch of studio execs decided to make a film just to pander to the Academy.
I thought American Beauty was interesting, but ultimately forgettable.
Forest Gump made a huge impression on me when I first watched it, but upon a recent viewing, I realized that Forest should've shot Jenny in the face with a large-caliber firearm very early in the film.
Field of Dreams makes me cry like a baby, and any film that can consistently do that is worth something.

I agree with the above as being overrated.

I've only seen 9 of the films on the list, and Wizard of Oz only parts of. That movie bored me out of my skull, which is why I never bothered to watch it to the end. On that basis, I wholeheartedly agree that it's overrated.
On the other hand, I completely disagree with 2001's inclusion on the list. It remains the greatest science fiction movie I have ever seen. (I know 2001 leaves many of you bored silly, so I guess we're even, heh.)
