Anybody else love broadway musicals? Or movie musicals?
Some of my favorites are:
Chess
The Producers
Into the Woods
Les Miserables
Phantom of the Opera
Hair (the movie)
Jesus Christ Superstar
Aw heck...I love just about all of 'em.

I haven't been to many musicals in the past but
Chessis definitely one for which I would make a special effort.
I Know Him So Well brings tears to my eyes everytime I hear it.
I saw
Grease, The Musical when it came to town, loved it to bits.
Brisbane sometimes misses out on the really good musicals meaning I would have to travel interstate to get to see them, but that is slowly changing. I'm afraid if it doesn't come here, then I dont get to see it.

Well....Les Miserables is the only one I've actually seen (man what an awesome show...they fire cannons onstage!

) but I've heard lots of scores. Chess is probably my all time favorite.

I saw the Rocky Horror Picture show on stage once and that was cool.
I also saw Michael Flatley and Co.

Dutchess and I have been talking about me coming out to Detroit in December to see The Producers when it tours there.
Jesus Christ Superstar is coming to tour in the fall in Chicago. I'm very tempted to check that out. I like the movie, and have the soundtrack from it.

Les Mis is pretty awesome. Bring Him Home is a great song. And I can't listen to the song that Fontine (sp?) sings on her death-bed. It has the same tune as the famous On My Own, but it's about her dying, leaving her daughter. Lots of things I can't listen to or see since I became a parent.
Aspects of Love was pretty good too. Less serious, for sure. But I like the music a lot.
I haven't seen too many shows though, despite being about an hour from NYC.

Funny how that works isn't it? I have to leave the room during THAT SCENE whenever we watch Trainspotting. And Tears in Heaven makes me bawl like a baby now.

I can't really get into broadway, or musicals in general. I liked Moulin Rouge, could tolerate Chicago, but generally, when people start singing, I start losing interest.

The RHPS is really fun. I had the pleasure of being in the cast a few times. I started out as the host/transylvanian and then I was Columbia and then Janet. It was a blast to perform cept in the winter. Too freakin cold to be runnin around in THOSE costumes
Everytime it comes around I try to catch it. Now it's my turn to throw things at the actors

Les Miz had a great score.
A classic show that I've always enjoyed is "My Fair Lady." My mom saw the original Broadway show starring Julie Andrews and Rex Harrison, and had the album. I grew up listening to it.
Julie Andrews had a phenemenal voice when she did that musical.
