It's winter (for most of us) and no doubt we'll all be ill at some stage. What do you eat or drink to make you feel better when you're under the weather?

For some reason I always feel like tuna sandwiches.

And to drink, a hot whiskey...

Half-pint tankard or large mug. Add a large teaspoon of honey (sugar if you don't have honey), two wedges of fresh lemon, each with three whole cloves stuck into them. Pour in boiling water to nearly the top, and add a large measure of whiskey. Get your head over it and inhale while it's steaming, stir it, and then sip slowly when it's cooled a bit.

Whenever I have a cold I crave orange juice. Don't know why.

When I'm ill, dairy is one of the worst things for me. I love the grilled cheese and tomato soup Jenn has, but it just makes my congestion worse.

So, when I'm ill, it's Jewish Penicillin all the way for me...

For colds and generic flu in winter - Chili, made extra hot to clear out those poor clogged sinus passages, washed down with water or beer.

Much later, for dessert, hot chocolate (made with 2% or whole milk, sugar, and cocoa powder) spiked with Rumplemintz (a high-octane Peppermint Schnapps).

Hot green chili (peppers: not Texas-style  ) for the vitamin C (dlb) and endorphins and hot red chili for the sinuses and sweat glands (...wait a minute! That's what I eat all the time, anyway!)

That's wild Stone... An old, old friend of mine in Jersey, New that is, did the exact same thing, but added sometime else that was really strange like wheat germ or something-he'd be really sick-drink that-fall asleep for about three hours and be prefectly fine! 8O Tam (the nurse) says that lactose (dairy) increases mucous production and disrupts your cough activation, she agrees with Men that the penicillin is the way to go.

Here in the US we have this potato product that consists of ground up potatos and spices and then frozen in small chunks that you stick in the oven and cook until they are golden brown and crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. We call them tater tots.

When I have the blues, there's nothing better than ice cream - what I lovingly refer to as "frozen Prozac."

Oven? Surely you jest? Deep fry them! Then drag them through a massive puddle of ketchup.
