Recommend a good History book?

Ah, Avatar, if only. I confess I have a secret cache upstairs that includes my Shadow the Sheepdog, Enid Blyton annual for 1959, Little Women and What Katy Did sets. But, what with the vynil, tapes and CDs (mostly hubbie's), one whole shelf of piano music, the remaining space has to be carefully husbanded - and I do the dusting, so no more shelves. :D

Bah, A little dusting would be a small price to pay.

Still, I reckon I have about half my books in storage, for lack of space for them.

I still feel like I'm wading through them at home sometimes though, because there are always more books. :D

What I consider two companion pieces:

Ian Kershaw's two volume biography of Hitler

and Roy Jenkins biography of Churchill

Read them back to back (order doesn't matter) and you'll get an incredible insight into the two personalities who most shaped WWII.
