I can't find any definitively great Daredevil graphic novels. Anyone got any recommendations?

In any event, Daredevil is perhaps my favorite superhero next to Batman.

And Wilson Fisk is my favorite villain.

These are some reprints of Frank Miller's work on DD. Nothing in comics has ever been better:

(Volume 1 is apparently from when he just did the art, before he started writing.)

And here's the incredible Born Again saga, with art by Dave Mazzucchelli:

Ah, thank you. I really like Miller's writing. It's too bad that Born Again is out of print, I'd heard it was excellent. :)

BTW, all of that is where Fisk became the awesome presence he is. Amazing in his manipulations and his physical prowess.

Then there's Bullseye, Elektra, the Punisher... MAN it's just incredible comics!!!

What?!? There's no way BA is not available!! I'll have to look when I'm in the comic store playing Magic on Wednesday, and next time I'm in B&N and Borders, but it would be blasphemous to let that go out of print!

Ah, excellent. :) And yeah, it seems weird that it's not there.

Speaking of Kingpin, I'd read that he was somewhat involved in Civil War recently. You know anything about that, Fist?

I haven't seen the latest issue yet, but he wasn't in the first... whatever number I have.

Ah. One of the one-shots that goes along with the Civil War title. Possibly one of the better ones. I'll have to look for that, too. Thanks. :)

Screw Batman! Daredevil is GOD! :P Miller rocked! (Batman, Silver Surfer and Dr. Strange are my second favorite)

Well, Batman was at his best with Miller. Whether Miller also did the art (Dark Knight Returns), or Mazzucchelli (Year One).

Hmm, no Miller Surfer or Strange. However, they both had incredible runs also. :D

And yes, Mhoram, the Elektra books are also amazing. Some are reprints from her appearances in DD, but Elektra Lives Again and Elektra: Assassin are both safe. :D

never been a fan of any of the Daredevil teams. I get sick of the ninjas/Kingpin thing actually. I would love for someone to get Murdock out of Hell's Kitchen and into Shield. it could be the new Marvel-Two-In-One with DD teaming up with Moonknight, Iron Fist, Union Jack and others to solve international threats. I could see him using Mentallo and the Fixer as his home base. set him up as the ultimate James Bond.

Uhhh, yeah. Whatever. You hate ninjas and Kingpin, but want to make him the next Bond, who fights, amongst other things, ninjas and crimelords. Ooooookay. Well, you might be sick of the ninja/Kingpin thing, but when Miller came on board, his take on DD was quite revolutionary, and quite overdue. DD was a great character in the 60's, but once Gene Colon (and I assume Stan Lee) left circa issue 53, the comic stagnated for the next 105 issues, though the run with the Black Widow was pretty good. Oh, and during that run, due to his association with the Widow, he often fought alongside SHIELD, so there! Anyway, Miller is somewhat to blame for the complete overuse of ninjas at Marvel in the years following his DD run; hell, the X-men seemed to be fighting ninjas more than evil mutants in those days...Miller's DD may have even been an inspiration for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! But, Miller himself didn't overuse them; just the writers behind him, hoping to capture some of his magic. Anyway, that just shows how good and influential Miller's run was. There have been good runs since, but Frank Miller's was definitely the best.

agreed, however, there was a run when JRjr was pencilling and (darn, can't remember name) was writing. It was really good! There was a whole cross-over bit with 'hell on earth' that was AMAZING! great art and writing!

Anyone remember this ?...

Of course I remember it! Ann Nocenti wrote it. Jr Jr was awesome! Typhoid Mary was a bit silly for me, but it was great fun to watch DD beat on Bullet. :D

Sorry, LM, not much luck with Born Again. I had the guy look it up with his distributor, and they didn't have it. Maybe it actually is out of print! Freakin' idiots! But maybe another reprint is about to come out. *sigh* Well, if I find it in one of the other comic shops I go to regularly, I'll get it for you. Here's hoping!

That's very nice of you, Fist! :) Thank you. :)
