Knock it off you're not Irish

Nothing wrong with looking for an excuse to party...but people certanly take it way too far.

Even though every bar in Halifax has SPD specials on...people will line up for two or three hours to get into one of the Irish Pubs.

Um...what's the expression that the Irish use? It's called "taking the piss".

Given the fact that my partner is Irish (ie: from County Cork, and has only lived in Australia for...um...5 years). Given that makes Son of Seareach half Irish. Yeah, I'm an imposter (although have you heard of the "Butlers of Ireland?).

As for "life threatening": hmmm...maybe the Irish people are different to the once I have met. I distinctly remember sitting in a snug in Kinsale with a whole lot of Irish people who kept saying to me "come on, do it again" (ie: in my cracking Irish accent saying "top of the morning to you, have you seen any of the little people? I saw tirty tree and a turd of them sitting on my tiny tum"...and they were all *very* Irish...and didn't seem to mind).

So, yeah...I assume I'm in the "A cheerful St Patrick's Day to all Irish people" category? Or do you beg to differ!

The Irish people I know reflexively punch anyone who says "top of the morning", but that might be because they all live in England and our sourness has rubbed off on them...

I always love the "I forgot the defense".

Mmm, Irish coffee.

I had no idea that it was St. patricks Day but I still went out and got drunk. That sort of intuitive thinking must mean I have a strong irish ancestory I knew nothing about.

I got an Irish pub as my "local", so we traipsed off there from 2pm on Saturday. I can at least claim Celtic heritage - mah peeps came from the Venetii -northeast Italy - and they were Celts before the Romans bullied their way in. Hence my "affinity" with the Irish. Plus, I had green sprayed into my hair. And I can riverdance. And Bono pulled me up on stage to dance with him back in 1983. And I've been to Ireland four times. I qualify as "partly Irish"....

Best thing is, I got stonkered on 5 pints of Kilkenny, sang "Fields of Athenry" at top o' me lungs along with a horde of green-swathed pissheads, and the pub finally had some male talent there. I met a Kiwi bloke who'd lived in Ireland for a few months while travelling & we hit it off so well, he asked for my phone number & we're going on a date next weekend...
