What's the deal? That's the only store in the US that will be selling it??

What kind of lines do you imagine will be there??

I don't know what the lines will be like. They may be insignificant, they may be an overnighter. (But which would you guess?) That's why I will pay incentive. (Hopefully, to someone who is standing in line for their own book ANYWAY.)

It's not that I won't do it myself ... I can't do it myself.

Yeah, they'll be up on e-bay in a few hours. I predict they'll be going for way more than I can see paying, though. I predict $450.

SAY YOU'LL DO IT FIST!!!

I don't know Alan Lee. Links? :D

Wayfriend, there's a good possibility I would be willing. Mind you, I wouldn't stand on line overnight. But I'll check to see if I can get the day off. If I can, I wouldn't mind a day in the city. If it works out, you'll know which one is me at Elohimfest - the guy holding The Children of Húrin . heh

And what if this is the version that's autographed? Or if there is a choice between this and the regular?

I'm on vacation until Monday. By then, I'll likely not remember to see if I have the day off. So pm me a few times between now and 7:00am Monday.

Alan Lee is one of the most famous Tolkien artists. He's done a lot of the Tolkien books, and he also worked on the film with PJ. You can google/images him and see what he's all about.

And, yes, it's the deluxe edition that would be autographed. So it starts at $72, not sure if they are charging more.

Alan Lee is my illustration god. His pencil and water colour images are breath taking.

has just LotR images that were done decades ago, long before the movie. Back in the day I had bought numerous LotR calendars which he illustrated, a couple children's books, and one of my faves, an illustrated book on Castles...
fantastic stuff that just pulled images from my imagination and stirred it as well...

They've changed the event to have a 2-book limit.
theOneRing.net wrote:Are you planning to snag a copy of THE CHILDREN OF HÚRIN signed by Christopher Tolkien and Alan Lee in NYC on April 17th? We hope so! If you were planning on getting more than one copy, we have one small update for you. We originally reported that there would be a five book limit per customer, however to prevent scalping and other general madness, that limit has been dropped to TWO books per customer. Hooray for giving everyone a chance! Also, TheOneRing.net will be at the Barnes and Noble with giveaways and other such merriment to celebrate this historic release! Details to come!
