Naomi Novik is gaining a huge following-she ought to win one or two...

Palencar and Picacio are the two artists I seem to hear the most praise about. I lok forward to seeing what Palencar does for the chrons, because he's good, but personally I prefer Picacio.

Chicago has our own book blogger Bookslut. Back in April the blog's SF commenter, Adrienne Martini, said regarding the Hugo ballot 'What's up with out of 20 titles for fiction there's only ONE woman'. And before you all start going off about an award based on some measure of quality is not subject to the whims of some theoretical ideal of gender equity. Consider this the 2007 Nebula ballot which had about eleven woman nominated on their fiction categories which had about 30 titles nominated. Just seems odd, one woman vs. eleven women.

I'll probably need the fire proof asbestos suit for the replies.

Been hearing a little about the results:
This is Vernor Vinge's third novel in a row to win a Hugo, apparently.
Dave Langford has been winning Best Fan Writer for years, but it seems this year John Scalzi only lost it by one vote!
