I am very, very sad. While I haven't gotten through all of Vonnegut's work, the books and short stories I've read over the years have stayed with me - moreso than most other books I've read.
It feels like a wise, favorite uncle has died.

He was a good one. Nor wholly unexpected though.

It's sad to think that we won't be reading any new Vonnegut books. May he be at peace knowing that his work will live on in the hearts and minds of his fans that are and the fans that are yet to be. Farewell Kurt.

Vonnegut is on my long, long list of authors I've yet to read.
Good for you, danlo. Would've been nice if we had covered more "counterculture" authors like him in my school, and less establishment deadweights like Thomas Hardy.

RIP Mr Vonnegut, you confused and delighted me in equal measure!
The bit in Slaughterhouse 5, with the bombers flying backwards, is possibly the most amazingly uplifting piece of literature I have ever read!
One of these days I'll get round to typing it out as my sig.

I don't remember whick book it is from, but one of my favorite Vonnegut quotes is "If you can do no good, at least do no harm."
Simple words of wisdom from an exceptional writer.

I bought Cat's Cradle 3 days before he died, it was the only thing in the bookstore by him and I wanted to read something by him.
