I fixed it.
I originally wanted to make this a thread of images that tug at your heart and bring out sad emotions for all kinds of reasons.
I thought it might be interesting if it didn't get political
But I'm thinking now that maybe it's not such a good idea.
Anyone interested?

Why would you want to make such a depressing thread. You should be posting pictures that bring joy!

Something different.
Lots of forums have funny pic threads.
By your reasoning there should be no sad songs or sad movies.
There endless horrible pics in the world.
But some flow over me like water and some hit me like a truck.
I'm not sure why the above pic hit me like it does.
Maybe because I'm a father and I couldn't imagine my kid having to go through what he's going through and mix in some weird patriotic feelings maybe.

In the same vein, I think this is one of the most moving photographs ever taken.

YES!
That one always strikes a cord with me and it's another one I was thinking of posting here.

(NOTE- "Bush" appears in this, but it doesn't make any comments for or against the war in any way).
Ya, absolutely. Not a visual, but I remember one letter from this girl I heard, either to Clinton about the stuff in yugoslavia against milosevic, or to Bush relating to the iraq or afghan war. It said something like "I know my daddy might die fighting, but I'm giving him to you." I almost feel like...ya, for people who can feel that way, that's fine, but sometimes we sorta get to the point (not just in war) where we think that ultimately accepting that their death was a 'fair trade' and something we had to give up. It's paradoxical, but while I feel like war and sacrifice for a cause can be worthwhile, at the very same time deaths for a cause are not justified. I guess I actually feel that deaths for a cause are absolutely justifiable and, at the very same time, absolutely unjustifiable XD.

I know I'm not giving reasons, just how I feel.

I honestly don't remember what conflict it was about, I just know it's in my relatively distant memory, and the thing itself really divorced from the actual conflict or whatnot.

I do have some thoughts on whether stuff like this is, which is heavily emotional and personal, should be used to make a point, but if I do choose to discuss it I won't do so here (in the tank somewheres).
