"A script for TERMINATOR 4 by John Brancato and Michael Ferris has been written. It was designed to be the "first leg in a trilogy." Moritz Borman will produce. T4 is planned as a summer 2009 release."

I had read elsewhere that the new films would focus on the future war. That aspect of the Terminator storline has always been the most interesting to me but I was beginning to give up hope that a film or films would be made about it. Of course I may regret having wished for the movies if they suck, which they easily could.

IIRC this has been in the works for a while. I dunno, no Arnie, no Biehn, no Hamilton, and no Cameron.

That said, I enjoyed T3, so I'll see 'em anyway.

I'll wait 'til it shows on TV.

I enjoyed T3 also. I thought Arnie's character was looking a little tired, and they chould have had a better woman to do the female terminator, but the action was ripping! and the two human leads were great.

I actually enjoyed T3 more than Spider-Man 3. Which makes the Terminator trilogy stronger than the Spider-Man one, in my mind.

Of course, I had very low expectations for T3 and such high ones for Spidey 3. Don't get me wrong--both films are worthy additions to their respective franchise; just don't think I cherish 'em enough to buy.

"First leg in a trilogy," huh? Are they trying to revamp/retool the series, ala Batman Begins or Casino Royale? I never thought the Terminator movies needed a reboot, but hey, I hope it works. Also hope it stays faithful to the mythos and/or enhances it.

I for one was transfixed by the Terminator fembot. Loved the drawn back hair and the red leather. Wait a tic--did I say I wasn't going to buy that film? Might recalculate that one!

My favorite Terminator movies, in order, are 1,3,2

T1 was just one of the best movies ever made.

In T2 the special effects were awesome but once Arnold started to understand human feelings I groaned and wanted it to end.

T3 had just enough special effect to hold my interest but it was the STORY that captivated me.
I mean, at the end they wrapped it all up and got it right!
Those early terminators! I loved it.
And the chemistry between Kate Brewster and John Conner was just perfect.

I'm interested in what direction they will go for future movies though.
It's like the 2nd batch of Star Wars movies being set before the first.
We knew how it was going to end but it was interesting seeing how it played out.
But that to me, like in SW, is a weak premise.

Backwards premise. It'll be in the future, but we already know how that plays out? What happened to free will?

If they're smart, they'll continue the mix of "present" and future, with the latter continuing from Conner's death.

I'm ambivalent about this new Terminator trilogy. My feeling is that the further this fictional world is removed from the guidance of James Cameron, the more mediocre it will become. I already felt that mediocrity creeping in when I was watching T3. I more or less liked the movie when it first came out, but haven't felt any great urge to watch it since. Jonathan Mostow directed the film competently enough, but he's no James Cameron. The fights between Arnold and the Terminatrix were spectacular, but in between their scrimmages I had to put up with the uninspiring pair of John Connor and Kate Brewster. IMO, the two actors who played them had no chemistry. Also, I thought they were whiney to a fault. I guess I disliked them the way some disliked "whiney" teen John Connor from T2.

I just wonder if the Terminator franchise will become diluted to the point that it sinks into irrelevance. I look at Robocop as a hint of things to come for the Terminator. Much as I dislike Paul Verhoeven's films these days, Robocop was always his "baby." Verhoeven's vision held Robocop together, not to mention Paul Weller's portrayal. But by the time Robocop got to be a TV series of dubious quality, who cared about that franchise anymore? Is this also what's in store for the Terminator down the road? A once-proud movie powerhouse reduced to a low-budget, sucky TV series shown between sitcom reruns? I hope not.

Thank you. I sometimes feel I'm the only person on earth who has criticisms of T2.

I never got round to seeing T3; I expected a more badly flawed version of T2, which was itself an inferior attempt at reliving the impressive T1.

T2 isn't half as good as the first film. I find that it drags horrendously, and both Linda Hamilton and Eddie Furlong annoy the piss out of me.

I enjoyed T3.

I recently paid a visit to Universal Studios theme park here in Florida. As usual I hit the Terminator 3d ride. The film portion of the attraction is like a 10 minute version of the film I wished T3 had been. I liked T3 but I was really hoping to spend the film in the future. T3 had many of the same elements as T2 and I've been craving something new. Hopefully T4 will be more of a wish fullfillment event for me.

T3 was rubbish. I hope they don't make more movies. It's becoming more of a franchise, just like the rest of the entertainment industry.

Nah, T3 wasn't rubbish. There wasn't much chemistry between the two human leads, and I could have done with a little less corny humor, but I thought it was a solid film.

What's the problem with more Terminator movies? This "trilogy" ended with the, um, rise of the machines. There is quite a bit of story left to tell. What really went down between the nuclear holocaust and sending the first terminator?

Not that I want to see just that. I certainly don't want to see a war against another AI (Matrix anyone?). A continuation of the themes from the first 3 would be boring if they don't introduce something fresh.

I've had enough of the Commodore 2000 vs Vista, thank you.

Btw, I have a real problem with Skynet being its own mother.
