This is where we see about 90% of the films we go to. There is a strange allure to to watching a film outside sitting in lawn chairs in front of the van while being eaten alive by mosquitos. The screen is freaking huge! A Coke is $1, popcorn is cheap, and candy is 75 cents or a dollar. The sound is broadcast in stereo over an FM frequency, and since I take a battery powered boombox there is no risk of the car battery going dead.

Sounds like a plan except for the skeeters. I hate those bastard things, the food chain be damned.

The mosquitos aren't much of a problem if you're using a Drive In as God intended them to be used. You're supposed to be fooling around in the back seat!

But who would watch the kids while mommy and daddy fooled around? And howdy Luci!

Only ever been to one drive in, when I was on holiday in the USA (Mass.), and it was great.
Don't really get the weather here for those to be popular though.

There aren't any drive-ins left where I live. I bet it's fun though.
During the summer I'll go to Wildwood NJ and watch movies on the beach. It's a drive-in sized screen with massive speakers along the perimeter of the viewing area. You pay your 7 bucks, throw a blanket on the beach, eat some food, drink some beer and have a good old time.

I remember seeing Rocky at the drive-in that used to be in my small town (obviously this was a long time ago!) I also remember driving by the same drive-in and seeing a giant ape (King Kong, the 1976 version.)

I don't drive, so I've never gone to a drive-in. But it's nice to know that drive-ins are still being enjoyed by people.

Yes, they suck. Well, ok, they bite and
then suck...

Drive-ins are great, it's a shame there aren't more of them left.

I used to go to the drive-in theaters all the time.
But none are around here any more.
They were torn down to built condos and Wal-Marts.
As for the skeeters; well, in Florida you have to put up with them.
After all, it IS the Florida State bird!
(And a vicious little weed called the "Sand Spur" is our state flower.)
Damn, how I miss the drive-ins.

There's a drive-in in my town... a lot of people put small couches in the back of pickups and watch from there. It's great

Cold, but great.
