I have a cautionary tale for those of you using MySpace. Last year I went down to Portsmouth for my brother's birthday and we went to a club on the end of Southsea pier (I can't remember the name but I'm sure one of the Pompey Watchers does). One of our friends was at the bar when a woman with a strong Northern Irish accent turned to him and said "If you don't buy me a drink, I'll tell the bouncers that you just tried to rape me." He told her where to get off and she didn't actually go to the bouncers, but she did point our group out to her boyfriend and his small band of pikey thugs. Not long afterwards, and completely without warning, the boyfriend ran across the club and threw a haymaker straight at my brother who, caught completely by surprise, was struck square in the mouth. The combination of the pikey's rings and Rich's bottom teeth produced a two inch tear, right through his lower lip and he was knocked down, where the pikey proceeded to kick him and stamp on his head.
They hung around long enough for a stand off at the top of the pier, where they were eventually arrested by the Police, and I forced my reluctant brother to go to hospital (seriously, he would've just gone to bed had I not been there

). The Police later came to the hospital with a camera to take pictures of Rich's wounds, and several hours and 24 stitches later we went home. The Police wanted to press for a grevious bodily harm charge agaist the pikey and when Rich was unsure about pressing charges, they encouraged him because of the guy's previous record.
So, and here's where the story gets relevant, it went to court and all was going well until the defence lawyer asked my brother if he was familiar with a website called MySpace. Now my brother, make no mistake, is a dyed-in-the-flesh beer monster and this is reflected in his MySpace page. Lots of pictures from boozy nights out and comments from people he'd met from the recent 'Summer Break' gathering in Torquay, one of which even referred to him as "Mr Beer". Now even though, Rich has no record of violence, drunk or otherwise, the defence lawyer proceeded to fabricate a story of how our group of "tanked up college boys" had been aggravating the defendant and his group of "working class" friends (in actual fact they were a charming mixture of pikeys and football skinheads) and that the defendant was reacting to the 'attempted sexual assualt' against his girlfriend. This was not helped by a throwaway comment on MySpace where my brother actually called the friend who'd been at the bar "dirty old perv" in jest. Despite the testimony of the club security, who saw him charge at the oblivious Rich, the MySpace stuff tipped the jury the other way and the pikey walked. To make matters worse his girlfriend, spurred on by the success of the MySpace comment, is now trying to press charges against the friend who supposedly assualted her at the bar.
So there you have it, a little information can be a very dangerous thing. Especially if you're attacked by someone who can afford a cutthroat lawyer because they and their family have never paid a penny in tax! So be
very careful about what you put on MySpace.

Or you can make your profile private. Meh, either way- putting personal information out on the interweb for the world to see isn't the smartest thing ever.
That said, my url is in my profile, or the www button

I have nothing on my 'Space that no one who knows me even a little bit can testify on.
So unless writing angry blogs about various stupid Forwards and Government mistakes is illegal, I'll be safe.
Ohterwise, I don't really have a blog. I just rant on the 'Space and hope I show some of the kids from my generation that they're being stupid, or I write it down on paper.

I was once on a World of Warcraft raid where a guy ordered a pizza over the phone and read out his credit card details to 40 people over teamspeak. At least it taught him to use push-to-talk, he was a real mouth breather.
