Great Yoda lines

Some of my favorites:
"Much to learn, you still have."
"If so powerful you are, why leave?"
"Not if anything to say about it, I have."

Luke, approaching the X-wing that sank in the swamp, about to try to pull it out with the Force: "Okay. I'll give it a try."
Yoda: "No. Try not. Do. Or do not. There is no try."
Luke, minutes later, having failed, after watching Yoda pull the X-wing out: "I don't believe it."
Yoda: "That is why you fail."
To the spirit of Qui-Gon: "A very great Jedi Master you have become, Qui-Gon Jinn. A very great Jedi Master you always were, but too blind I was to see it."

Really? I thought that was one of the most awkward lines of the Prequels--and there were lots of awkward lines. I actually thought you were joking with that one!
Why can't Yoda learn proper English syntax after 900 years?

I like that line just for pure "in your face" appeal if for no other reason. Yoda's just taken Sidious' best shot, got up from the floor, and Force shoves Sidious across the room. How can you not like that moment?

I like the 3 lines above just for Yoda being a bad ass.

I agree it was a great moment. But I thought that line ruined it. I was laughing when I wanted to be thrilled.

"When 900 years old you reach, look as good you will not."

After Luke has failed to lift his X-Wing from the swamp and tells Yoda "it's too big," Yoda replies with this wonderful line:
"Judge me by my size, do you? And well you should not, for my ally is the Force."
For me, Yoda's most affecting words come from that little "inspirational" speech he gives to Luke.

MM, I agree. His best lines were from ESB. They seemed genuine, not forced.

Definitely Frank Oz put a-lot of himself into vocalizing Yoda's lines for ESB. He must've believed in what Yoda was saying. But for me is the defining moment of describing what the force actually is.
Ben Kenobi in ANH said:
"... the Force is what gives a Jedi his power, it's an energy field created by all living things, it surrounds us, penetrates us, it binds the galaxy together..."
Yoda takes that explanation further in ESB:
YODA: Size matters not. Look at me. Judge me by my size, do you? Hmm? Mmmm.
Luke shakes his head.
YODA: And well you should not. For my ally in the Force. And a powerful ally it is. Life creates it, makes it grow. It's energy
surrounds us and binds us. Luminous beings are we... (Yoda pinches Luke's shoulder) ...not this crude matter. (a sweeping gesture) You must
feel the Force around you. (gesturing) Here, between you...me...the tree... the rock... everywhere! Yes, even between the land and the ship!"
I dunno about anyone else, but when I heard this it resonated deeply within me as TRUTH! Telekinesis, Telepathy, Seeing the future/past/present and so forth...
all of us have this ability... just we've forgotten how to use it or never learned at all. We've seen rare examples of people doing some remarkable things that cannot be explained by science.
When I saw AOC and heard Qui-Gonn's explaination to Anakin about what the Force was and how it was created by microscopic symbiotic creatures living within our cells... I damned near walked out of the theater.
It took Yoda's beautiful explaination and just threw it out into the vacuum of space. I have never liked the prequels since.
SIGH

Definitely agree on this point, creating "midi-chlorians" was the second biggest good Lucas made with TPM. Jar-jar was the first.

The midi-chlorian thing didn't really bother me at the time, but I'm not going to vigorously defend it either. I can understand how a cellular explanation for the Force seems a little quirky. To put a TC spin on it, I guess it would be like SRD suddenly saying that some Lords were better able to wield magic than other Lords because they had more, um, "Earthpower" cells in their bloodstream.

Well I would've let it slide if it were not for Annie's mother saying : "there was no father" WTF??? Oh so now Darth Vader is some messianic figure??
Anyway this is getting off topic...
YODA ROCKS!!!

Same here...ok, maybe they generate the energy that surrounds everything, but then they would have to live in molecules, not cells.

So, you're saying midi-chlorians are like ATP?

Maybe...but rocks for example don't contain ATP as far as I know.

But that sort of idea I guess.

Ha, gotta put this in here. A certain web site that offers free ring tones for your cell phone has one of Yoda saying this:
"Answer the phone you must."
Classic...........
