GoodFellas is the best, followed closely by the Godfather movies and The Departed. I love mob movies!

I also liked Once Upon a Time in America, Sleepers and A Bronx Tale--there's my DeNiro worship coming out again :P .

However I couldn't stand Casino...

"Once upon a time" is so difficult to get into. I don't remember "A Bronx Tale."

Once Upon a Time in America is good but it's ridiculously long. Also, have you noticed that Bob De Niro spends so much time on screen without saying or doing anything. If you watch it again see how little he actually does in it. It's kinda weird.

I'm another Miller's Crossing fanboy. Sublime movie.

I think Donnie Brasco is my favourite mob movie, though. Depp gives the performance of a life time(imo), Al Pacino is awesome playing the little guy and..well...I just love it.

Edit just to say that 'A Bronx Tale' is another great.
It'd take you a long time to blow up or shoot all the sheep in this country, but one diseased banana...could kill 'em all.

I didn't even know sheep ate bananas.

Just looked at the cover pic for A Bronx Tale and I do remember it now - you're right, it's very good!

The Godfather, 1 & 2.

Payback kicks butt as well.

And Johnny Dangerously.

Love Goodfellas. Probaly my favourite. Prefer the first Godfather to the 2nd, and also enjoyed Donnie Brasco...was a bit sad really, the betrayal etc.

bravo!
That is my favourite mob movie (and consistently one of my top 5 movies of all time).
I think it is one of the best screenplays ever written. If you ever have a chance to read it alone, do your self a treat.
And the acting and directing aren't too shabby either.. ;)

Godfather 1 & 2 are a close second.
Payback is an interesting choice...
I liked Goodfellas too.

Ooo, what about Bugsy Malone!.....

Agreeing with all your choices already

Hoodlum, based on the real life story of 'Bumpy' Johnson, a Harlem gangster in the 1930s, who waged a gang war against Dutch Schultz over the control of the Harlem 'policy' racket. Starring Laurence Fishburne and Vanessa Williams.

King of New York. Frank White a life long criminal is released from prison, and reverts to his old ways of womanizing, violence, muscling and eliminating the competition and his gangland rivals, but a crew of cowboy cops are determined to bring Frank and the criminal empire down. Starring Christopher Walken, Laurence Fishburne, Wesley Snipes, David Caruso, Teresa Randle.

The one with Patrick Dempsey playing the role of Meyer Lansky, and F. Murray Abraham plays Arnold Rothstein. Which one is that?

Does Heat fall into this category. Did you all know Heat is the movie that has the first scene where DeNiro and Pacino are doing a scene together?

But really GF over GF2, IMO GF is OMG good but GF2 is just to another level.

Walken was damn good in King of New York.

Also enjoyed Suicide Kings with him. Not exactly a classic mob movie, but he played a mobster. Black comedy.

Miller's Crossing is amazing, but you couldn't stand Casino?!

Casino, Director's Cut

For me, it's Godfather, Miller's Crossing, Casino, Goodfellas, Infernal Affairs , Ichi the Killer. . .

What ruined the movie for me was Joe Pesci-his never ending torrent of F-bombs completely turned me off...

I'd go with Scarface, each time I watch it I'm blown away by how good it is; Carlito's Way is good; American Gangster was decent; Untouchables is a fabulous, fun gangster flick; Casino was decent; Goodfellas is truly great, but a little too long; Godfathers are the best films ever made IMO; I love Donnie Brasco; Road to Perdition is good; if City of God counts, it would be just behind Godfathers for me; love the Departed (though a remake); Lock, Stock was good; Snatch was really good; Resevoir Dogs was good; Pulp Fiction was good...
