Has anyone heard of Second Life?
Is anyone a member of Second Life?
I was just told about it and I am curious.

I'm a minister in the Universal Life Church (not to mention a Discordian Pope), but no...I've never heard of Second Life.

It's a virtual world where pedophilia and other immoral/disgusting deviances runs rampant.
Anything else you'd like to know about it?

Since it's a virtual world there are no reprucussions for your actions. There are positives about the world, for example I hear it has a pretty neat music community.
But I can't get it out of my head that the world is filled with areas like the one called "The Playground" where you can find people who's avatars are small and child-like and you can have simulated sex with them. The sexual deviance of the game runs rampant, from anthropormorphism (sp?), to extreme bondage, to pedophilia. Of course, it does no real harm to any child or person outside the game, but it still really disgusts me. It's only slightly a problem of morals in my mind... it's mostly just a matter of taste.
Because the world is programmable and you can create everything from objects to animations for you avatars, there is really no limit to what you can do. And while that's not necessarily a "bad" thing, it can certianly be a horrifying one.

Ok, I think I heard of that before. That's too bad.
It would be pretty cool to create "The Land" though.

Sorry, it just seemed a bit more informative than calling a den of low morals.

There's another thread in here (damn the search function) with a few articles and whatnot linked in it.
Never tried it myself, but there's a lot more to it than a den of low morals as far as everything I've heard and read goes.
