Anyone read this book? I think it's by Richard Matheson. Think Will will do a good job?

I'm surprised that it took a movie trailer for it to come to my attention. End of the world fiction is among some of my favorite books.
Even if the move turns out bad, it looks like a graet read. So it's win-win for me.

You realise the Omega Man is based off the book?Balon wrote:I'm surprised that it took a movie trailer for it to come to my attention. End of the world fiction is among some of my favorite books.

Hopefully it's more true to the source book than I Robot was.

Has anyone seen the Vincent Price version, The Last Man on Earth?
I've only seen 5 minutes of it, but what I saw looked closer to the book than Omega Man did.
I don't really care too much about what they fill this movie with, so long as the ending of the literary I Am Legend comes through.

Bought IML yesterday. I didn't get to see it at the theater. I mostly enjoyed the film though it seemed rather short, as if a full 1/4 of the movie was missing. My biggest complaint is the use of CGI. The creature effects weren't as convincing as I would have hoped. Every time I noticed I was watching something computer generated it took me out of the story. In my opinion it wasn't necessary. Otherwise it wasn't a bad film and I'm glad I bought it.

yes, but for a totally different reason. They definately "Hollywood-ized" it. Th reason for the title in the book is VERY different than the movie ..,Balon wrote:At least they're using the title this time.
Yah, the CG was pretty awful. I was constantly aware that I was looking at CG, and not people.
I was impressed with WIll Smith... his portrayal of a man trying to stay sane and who was scared shitless half the time was quite good.
Abandoned NY was really cool too....

Smith did an amazing job (the scene with the dog is just heart-wrenching), but yeah, the CGI blew.

I had a great time watching this movie at the theater, I mean the movie was ok, and Wil Smith continues to impress me with his acting ability, but my wife kept screaming, and jumping, and it became contagious until the people sitting around us were screaming, and , jumping too. I found myself paying more attention to them than I did to the film. I'll have to get the dvd now so I can see what I missed.

I cried like a baby during the one dog scene. I haven't read the book and I enjoyed the movie.
Now if I could just find a way to wear live bees as jewelry all the time.....
