Fatal Revenant Cover Art

Palencar's cover art for Fatal revenant is up on Amazon. Sort of a cross between Sauroman and Christ. I'm guessing that Donaldson's "mixed feelings" about the art may spring, at least in part, from the Tolkienesque rendering. That said, I think the cover is very well done, and if it helps put a few more dollars in Steve's pocket, all the better.

Will someone not in the group to visit the FR forum be able to access that link? If he was able to access the forum, might not he have posted there instead?

Ah, excellent point.

It makes me think of the moment in the Two Towers movie when Gandalf reveals himself to Merry and Pippin. Also, it seems a bit "generic" -- wizard, staff, tree -- so something in that might be what bothers SRD.

Still, I like it...

Like I said, it was all down hill for him after Kingdom Hearts 2...

Tell me about it! Sora's Samwise-like love for Riku was not a dominant enough theme! No matter how good of a voice actor Christopher Lee is (And he is actually quite good), that doesn't make up for the lack of... well... In the next game, hopefully Kairi will be legal.

At least his toosh is covered up.

(So we cannot see his anatomically incorrectly proportioned legs.)

I like the painting itself but I think as a cover it's too Gandolfy. That makes me unhappy.

The description of the plot on amazon refers to 'Linden Armory'.

Well, she does have both the Staff and Ring. Quite a nice little armory by Land standards...

Way too gandolf-esque. Nice rendering though. Who the hell is depicted? Findail?

Really don't care for it -- seems so pedestrian. Made me think of a Forestal at first (well... after I thought of Saruman), but I don't remember whether there are any left -- and I don't think that's what a Forestal's staff is supposed to look like. Maybe it's an Unfettered One... then again, I still haven't reread Runes, and I don't remember any of it, so I don't know whether they're still around either.

Fatal Revenant Cover Art

As a UK fan of the Chronicles I find it bizare that the TLCoTC are being published with different covers. Where is the consistency of the previous trilogies?

Nearly all 'sets' of books have a simliar theme, look feel or even textual style to them. Why is this set already got two totally different covers.

To be picky if they were on a bookshelf (as are the others in my home) you would never believe that they were from the same series!!

Do the publishers have no sense of style  ? or presentation - are they really that dumb as to be unable to chose a cover artist that has any idea of the content of the story, or previous covers?

Anyway enough ranting from this disgruntled Brit  - I totally understand why SRD has reservations!! That cover is vile (or do I mean ur-vile )

My guess is it's Caer Caveral's ghost.

verement, I was p.o.ed that my WGW was 1/4 inch taller than TWL and TOT in hardcover.

If these books are not even the same size .... I'll buy them anyway. But I'll buy them feeling abused, I tell you!

That is, of course, the million dollar question. Does it depict someone from the book, or is it generic?

There are no (known) Forestals remaining. I suppose one could come into being though (or there could be more time-travel, in which case it could be anyone). But if it does relate to the book, it probably comes down to two characters: (remember, no spoilers please!!)

1. Anele. After he regains himself. And grows more hair.

2. Foul.

I believe we were told somewhere that no more time traveling would occur - but I wonder if that meant the protagonists wouldn't be going back in time any more... Bringing things forward from the past to the protagonists in their current time might be a way to weasel around that statement.
