Law and Order

Strange request. If anyone has a copy of the Episode of Law and Order with Briscoe and Logan, where the autistic boy dies in costody, could you watch the first three minutes of it and tell me if Logan was wearing a small US Flag pin on his jacket? I don't remember ever seeing it before, and I wouldn't put it past the studios to digitally insert such a thing.

Or maybe it's just my paranoia.

Mike Logan always wore a flag pin in his lapel.

I didn't think the show would last without him.

Boy, was I wrong.

Logan was what got me hooked on Law and Order a few years ago (watched tons of old eps over the past few years.) I have to agree with Cail--I think he always wore the flag pin.

Same here, Tulizar - I mean about discovering Law & Order via syndicated runs of the old episodes. My interest in the show didn't depend on any one particular character, I just enjoyed the great ensemble acting. But I did really like the bright, crisp look of the earlier shows. I prefer that to the dark-to-the-point-of-murky photography that came later.

I started watching it from day one. I had a screenwriting professor in college that worked on the first season, so I got sucked in that way.

I thought the chemistry was the best between Noth and Dzunda, not bad between Noth and Sorvino, and was sort of flat the first year or so with Orbach. I also thought the chemistry was great between Michael Moriarty and Richard Brooks.

I'm still a sucker for this show, and I hope it lasts another 17 years.

and jill hennessy was so much better in L & O than she is in that stupid Crossing Jordan show.

that was my favorite L&O cast... Moriarty, Hennessy, Noth, Orbach
(tho i like both Dzunda and Sorvino, and i dug the little fling between Hennessy and Waterson)

and yeah, i got into it from reruns too. and became addicted fast!!!

I have a fondness for the SVU team. I really like the dynamics of each of those actors. I also have a new found respect and love for Christopher Meloni and his bravery in playing Freakshow in "Harold and Kumar go to White Castle" That totally made up for his mullet sporting look in several bad Lifetime Television films.

Have you seen "Wet, Hot American Summer"? Meloni is awesome in that.

Not really a fan of SVU, but I do like CI.

Vincent is the only reason to watch it. CI kind of became his show.

So, why did the producers split the episodes between Donfrio and Noth? Was there some contract dust-up? Are they fazing out Edgar-suit (my wife still calls him that)? Why?

On Criminal Intent. A couple years ago they paired Noth with (? can't remember her name--the wife in What Dreams May Come). She's the intuitive one. Now they switch off episodes, one team per episode.

Vinny was ill for a while, so they plopped Noth onto the show (to the delight of many fans). They switch off weeks.

Wow, I didn't know they snuck Noth back into the fold. I've only seen a couple episodes of CI, but have yet to tune into SVU.

If I had to name a favorite L&O team-up, it would probably be them.
Lucimay wrote:that was my favorite L&O cast... Moriarty, Hennessy, Noth, Orbach
Yes, I liked Hennessy, too. (Though never tuned into Crossing Jordan.)

Noth and Orbach were also terrific, of course.

Okay, Waterson is no pushover, either.

Haven't kept up with the show, but I'm sure it's still one of the best TV dramas out there. I read a while ago that if the show makes it to its 18th (?) season, it will have tied (or surpassed) Gunsmoke as the longest-running prime-time drama, or something like that?

It's nice to see Noth back in the Law and Order family. I enjoy watching him on CI, but I definitely prefer Donofrio's character in the series.

I agree with Lucimay---Jill Hennessy was great in Law and Order, but kind of falls flat in Crossing Jordan. That aside...is it just me or has Hennessy actually gotten hotter since her Law and Order days?

Sorry, I worship at the Altar of Jack McCoy. When he becomes District Attorney, I'm gonna be sad that he won't be in it as much.

Maybe.

I agree with you EL, Jack McCoy is my favorite ADA. So many characters come and go, but Jack remains.
It'll be a little odd not seeing him argue the cases, but holy crap it's about time he becomes DA! :)
