THE ROLES ARE GREAT FOR ACTORS AND WILL ATTRACT TOP TALENT. WHAT ARE YOUR IDEAS FOR THE LEAD ROLES OF ANGUS, MORN AND NICK?
What are the essential elements of Angus' character, and who should play him?

"...toad bloated with malice" is the Angus description I believe I remember.
Randall "Tex" Cobbs was always my mental image of Angus. Though he may be too old now.

Yeah, he's too old, but man would he have been perfect.
I'm still thinking Michael Chiklis from The Shield.

You know, a lot of people have been suggesting Paul Giamatti, which I never really agreed with. But I've seen some trailers for Shoot Em Up, and now I'm reconsidering.

Mickey Rourke! After Marv it's the next logical step...
or, I'm very happy with Vincent>

Neither Rourke nor D'nofrio are bloated, and I don't want to see them add the weight.
Chiklis has my vote. He already plays an Angus kind of character on The Shield. He's got the appearance, the acting chops and the audience will recognize him.

I think the best choice for Angus...is the one we all joked about in an earlier thread:
Namely, Ron Jeremy.

That wasn't a joke.
Is there a better Angus?

There truly isn't. But it's still funny in my eyes. Oh, god. Just LOOK at him.

Could you imagine how many people would go see a NON-pr0n movie that starred him?!?!?!?

Drew, that's not Ron Jeremy. That's the 9/11 mastermind,
Khalid Sheikh Mohammed. Still a good choice for Angus, but not the aging porn star.

Opps
How 'bout this one:

That's better! Actually, there is a picture of Ron looking very much like the 9/11 mastermind, down to the body hair and stretched-out T shirt.

Jimmy Gandolfini.

Perhaps Phillip Seymour Hoffman could play Angus.
He has tremendous range and this role would be the kind of challenge that actors of his caliber look for.
I'm not sure I've seen him play a villain yet, but he could definitely pull it off.
Might have to darken the hair to make him look more sinister.
If I had photoshop, I would find a way to see what this would look like.

Jack Black is an external actor. Everything he brings to a role shows in his face. It works very well in comedy, and it also did in King Kong.
Angus is a much more internal role. On screen, much of what SRD explained in print (the crib) will not show. The Angus of TRS (erupting volcano) is very different from the welded Angus, and I don't think Black can do that. Or at least, not the way I would like to see it portrayed.
The unwelded Angus is unlikeable. The welded Angus isn't much better, but I did feel some sympathy for him as the story progressed. The actor who takes on this role must be able to repel the audience, then win them back, to a degree.
Michael Chiklis (The Shield) would be perfect.
