In The Language of God: A Scientist Presents Evidence for Belief, Collins says Venter wanted to copywrite the genome so that he could sell the information. Collins, otoh, wanted it to be accessible to anyone, so medical stuff could be made available to everyone much more easily and cheaply. In this article, however, if says: Dr. Venter believes strongly in making individual DNA sequences public to advance knowledge and hasten the era of personalized genomic medicine. I wonder if he had a change of heart.

Also, Collins says Venter's claims to be nearly as close to finishing the genome during their race was largely a bluff.

Ah well, I suppose everybody has their story. Anyway, I thought maybe this would be of interest to folks. :D

I'm sorry. I had a roommate working on the Human Genome Project for man years. He said several years ago that the Sequencing was done.

What's this talk of the Genome?

I'm not the one to answer. Prebe or Xar might be of some help.

Of course, just because it's sequenced doesn't mean we have the foggiest idea of what half of it does, let alone much of it.

And, of course, we still need to work on the 'Proteome,' the library of the tens of thousands of proteins the body makes.
