Or Highlander 5. Showing Saturday on Sci-Fi, or you can already download it via torrent. Not that you'd probably need anyone to tell you, but the word is that it's bad. Very bad.

It really, really, really sucks. I couldn't even finish watching it.

I wish they obeyed the line from the first one when they thought of making sequels..

"there can be only ONE!"

Good Lord!
Just remembering that quote brought back a flood of memories about how awesome the 1st one was and how abysmal all the others were.

...I enjoyed the first few seasons of the t.v. series though...

There were some GREAT episodes scattered throughout all of the tv show's seasons, and lots of really good stuff also.

Movie 2 was horrid beyond the telling. Hands down, worst sequel in movie history.

Movie 3 was not good enough that I watched it again, or remember anything from it. But at least it wasn't an abomination.

Endgame had some of the best choreography of all, but I don't brag about the plot or anything. But by then, what difference did it make?

I'll watch The Source. I'll try, at least.

Another one? *hangs head*

I liked the series a lot. II we do not speak of. III was scarcely better if at all. IV I have not seen. :D

And wasn't it called EndGame?

I feel sorry for you Highlander fans who have had to put up with all these mediocre offshoots. They just won't let the franchise die with dignity, eh?

Oops, thought I was talking about Star Trek for a moment there.

:P

(No, no, really, I'm open-minded about the new Trek movie. Honest!)

I've been pretty loyal to the Highlander movie franchise...unfortunately.

Endgame was a 2 hour Highlander TV episode. The production values are identical to the series as if they didn't bother to spend a penny more than maybe 2 series installments. Really disappointing.
Can I state again that if the Highlander tv series was set in the 1960's (Adrian Paul's look is perfect for that era) then it wouldn't have crapped all over Highlander I's canon. Gee I guess I can. :-)

Fist. As much as I abhor Highlander II, Highlander III featured a plot point that absolutely drove me nuts which brings us to this question....
How do the cosmic powers of the universe that govern the immortals NOT know there is one of their members trapped below ground and hand out the PRIZE to Connor just because he happens to be the last Immortal standing after the conflict in 1985? If any of this makes a bit of sense, at the end of Highlander I Connor should have been standing there waiting for something to happen muttering "Gee that's funny. I don't feel any different. Hmmmm...must be another Immortal out there that couldn't make the party. I guess I better go find him an cut off his head."

Sorry to nit pick. NOT. :-)

Finally about Highlander "The Source". I haven't watched it but with Sci Fi's recent track record with original movies I'm not expecting much. Anyone see Alien Apocalypse featuring Bruce Campbell? UGHH.........!!!!!!!!!

Well, I have heard it argued that the Kurgan was just so powerful and had absorbed the power of so many immortals that Connor mistook his quickening for the prize.

(Afterall, how can you feel that you're mortal? Wouldn't you have to die (or age) to prove it?)

Dunno if I agree, but it is a possible loophole...

That's not bad except when Connor received the prize he knew it to be so because he could hear and understand everyone in the world. I've never heard anyone claim that the Quickening gives you that power. Besides there are always going to be apologists that like Highlander II, III and IV and try to defend the object of their fandom, sometimes to extreme lengths.

There's absolutely no possibility of explaining all the inconsistencies. No loophole is conceivably big enough. But hey, I enjoy different incarnations for different reasons. Taken on its own, the original was remarkable. Had to have been for it to have spawned so much. And taken on its own, the tv series was remarkable. Plenty of time to have come up with some really great moments. Endgame had some awesome fighting. If I can ever come up with anything worth mentioning about II, III, or Raven, I'll let you know. :D

True, but then again, nothing ever said exactly what sort of power it does give you. *shrug* I still largely agree with you, but I gotta say it's the best excuse for III that I've ever heard. (Did I mention that II didn't happen? Good. It didn't. ;) )

II? What's II? Never heard of that.

Anyway, the quickening is the most annoying thing there is. I've never seen any evidence of getting anything from anybody.

Except

Episode 79: Something Wicked
A native American Immortal, Coltec, is a shaman who has fought many evil Immortals, absorbing their corrupted Quickenings. But the evil begins to overwhelm him and his friend Duncan mut defeat him... without becoming evil himself.
Well, it doesn't work. At the end of the episode, Duncan gets all that gathered evil in a Dark Quickening when he takes Coltec's head. In the nextep, he goes around killing anyone he runs across, including friends.

Other than that, all of the "If he gets your quickening, he'll become too powerful to stop!"s are a bunch of bull.

I remember that one...fight happened next to some underground pool or something, right?

If it's the episode I'm remembering...yes.

Excellent story arc, for awhile.

I wish I hadn't missed this thread. I got to see Source back in January. Horrible. HORRIBLE. I had to be restrained at several point to prevent myself from blinding myself with a spork before rendering myself deaf with an icepick.

I guess I didn't miss anything then, not having cable.

Also, I can (sort of) live with the existence of HL II... you just have to watch the Director's Cut where they took out the whole "out of this world" concept.

I miss what this fandom was in, like, 1997. *sigh*
