I've just finished LFB, and near the end, when the Questers are in Mount Thunder, they are beset by ur-Viles, and one of them says that the ur-Viles 'have seen Birinair's flame'. But, of course, they can't see anything.

This mistake was in speech, so it was the character's error, not Stephen Donaldson's! Are there any other examples in TCTC?

In WGW, it said that no one "mved" That's how it was spelled. And, in TWL, they forgot to use CAPITALS when describing Cail. Some one o' them needs to learn how to spell, and how to use the ^shift key.

(Oh, do typos count? Ah well, never mind.)

I'm not so sure that he meant "see" in the visual sense. Birinair led the group because his flame was "quieter" than Prothall's. Perhaps he meant that they sensed his power?

Ok, he may have meant 'sense' rather than 'see', but it's still an odd thing to say.

What about this one:

In LFB, when Covenant asks if the people of the Land worship trees, his interlocutor (sorry, can't remember who it was - Atiaran?) replies, 'Worship? The word is obscure to me.'

But in TIW, when describing Revelstone, he uses the phrase, 'where the people of Revelstone worship.'

And he doesn't say what they worship, either.

PS. Sorry about the hazy memory for details. I know the magic is in the details!

the question is whether the word worship is used by 1 of the characters who was born in the land, or whether it was used by TC, LF or hile troy. if they used it then it isnt a continuity error, as they have knowledge & experience around the word that the ppl of the land dont.

Nah, I think I remember noticing that once, as well. It's a fairly obvious mistake, along the lines of being able to see SRD say, "Oh yeah, forgot about that bit." I'll have to do a search on my files when I get home just to be sure.

In the first chronicles, the giants were expecting high wood fashioned into keels for the return home. This was the reason for Foamfollowers trip to Revelstone. In the second chronicles the giant ship was granite. How would a granite ship work with a gilden lode keel? Me thinks in the first chronicles the giants were going to build wooden ships.

Hmmm...... They prolly were.

SRD should put a fake blooper section at the end of the Third Chronicles--kind of like what they did with the movie A Bug's Life. Like, Foul starts getting all heady and saying stuff like "Forsooth," and then he gets all disgusted at Covenant and goes, "Uh! Gag me with a spoon!" And then Covenant starts laughing and is like, "forgot your lines?" And then the director's like, "Cut!" And the camera crew and make-up people come onto the scene, and uh . . .

Yeah, and Covenant is a real pretty-boy primadonna actor.

We're reading LFB aloud here at the old homestead ("Blood-Bourne," where Foamfollower tenderly comforts Covenant during his suffering of the attacks, is particularly moving when read aloud.) When we got to "The Council of Lords" and Osondrea gives her "we know you're lying speech" to Covenant, she goes on about a three-winged bird. For the life of me, I can't remember reading about that earlier in the book. I've given it a cursory review but I can't find the reference. Someone please help me. How could I have missed it while reading aloud?

The people of Soaring Woodhelven tell Covenant and Atarian about the three winged bird. They had killed it after their visit by Jehannum.

Yes, Starfare's Gem was made of granite. But it was stranded when there was no wind, and they had to summon the Nicor. If the Unhomed had set out with those fancy-schmancy keels, they would have used them to propel their dromonds, the way Foamfollower was propelling his boat when we first met him, and laughed at the lack of wind.

Gilden could apparently be found only in the Land - no wonder the Giants of Home never used it.

In reference to the first book.
It struck me that when setting out from Revelstone some of the party or an advance party could have gone by river. It's never mentioned as an option. How do the other boats moored near Revelstone negotiate the current upstream for example. Where did Foamfollower get his big boat from. Is there another port somewhere this side of Landsdrop that has a marine supply shop.
Just where does the never ending supply of diamonddraught come from.

Agreed, as I was going to answer that probably the only thing they COULD build their ships out of was wood as there was not enough stone for them to create a regular (giant) ship. There's no description of the geology of Coceri so it can be presumed that there was no granite for the giants to work with.
