I would really like hardback versions of these. Do they exist. is it possible to get them? Failing that, how hard would it be to get standard paperbacks bound into hardback versions? Has anyone done this. I am in the UK

Ebay is a good place, or Amazon marketplace. That is how I got mine.

I found my copies (with the exception of TIW, which I was fortunate to receive from a friend here) on eBay.

My copies have a lot of sentimental value, as they were given to me by my high school chemistry teacher, who introduced me to the series.
That said, they're all paperbacks and they're falling apart; they were already worn-out by the time I received them. At the moment, I'm bidding on an auction for the books in hardback form.

You should also try second-hand bookstores - you'd be surprised what gems you can find there. It may take some doing, but you can often cobble together a set from the same printing in good condition.

Try half.com
Shameless plug: I am unloading all of my Donaldson paperbacks there: 1st (decent condition) and 2nd (slightly better condition) Chronicles, Daughter of Regals (good condition) and the first 4 Gap books (very good condition). Send me a PM if you're interested. I could be persuaded to let them all go at once for the cost of shipping.

I got mine at Powellsbooks.com. I think someone unloaded their Uncle or Father's collection since several of them were first editions and some even signed already.

Unfortunately, SFBC doesn't have them anymore.

Actually, recently I was able to locate the Sci-Fi book club editions at Barnes and Nobles' website. Just click on the link for used or out of print books, type in The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant and specify that you want hardcover.

HOly cow! I, too, want these in hardback, as my 30-year-old First Chrons are falling into dust and I still read them. I am so glad someone posted this question. I have seen them, but haven't taken the plunge yet. It's one here and one there, which is totally annoying. I guess I'll have to break down and do it anyway. Darn it. It sure would be nice to get them from the same source.

He's as good as his word.
I now am the proud possesor of all of these, and can no longer say I own no Donaldson, except for my one signed Reed Stephens book danlo got me.
Now to start TCTC again from the beginning while I await the library to tell me FR is in.
Thanks Farsailer.

Another shameless plug... If this is not appropriate here, my apologies... I'd rather that true Donaldson fans got them, than book sellers.
I have a large collection of Donaldson's books and every October -December I sell some on Ebay. Many times I sell things that cannot be found anywhere else or seldom available, almost always 1st editions.
Currently available are signed, numbered, limited editions of Gap; signed One Tree; and 1st edition of Power That Preserves up on Ebay.
