NASA craft ‘touches’ sun for 1st time, dives into atmosphere

The woefully misnamed craft, "Parker Solar Probe,"* flew into the sun's corona multiple times. Cool!

*[It should have been called, "Icarus," obviously!]

Wow that is amazing! I didn't even know they could build a craft to get that close to the sun without exploding/melting

Physicists Discover a Remarkable New Type of Sound Wave

A sound wave that behaves like a light wave. Dunno what the uses of this might be, but interesting nonetheless.

No details about what they think it might be, but possibly a fifth force of nature?!? That seems like a big deal.

Fermilab's progress is definitely encouraging. Getting closer to bridging/merging the different theories gives me hope for someday getting out of this heliosphere. IMO, this may be be part of the solution for long distance communication.

Would prefer to see this coming from US scientists, but the advancement would help further so many other efforts. Always wondered if we could use something like this to bolster the Earth's magnetic field during solar events. And in my less bound-to-reality moments, starship shields.

Imagine if we could mix quantum physics with superconductivity, and create highly magnetic fields far into the distance. Vibrations of EMF for communication may not be too different from the force to push micro meteoroids aside.
