Yeah, an international txt costs me a little more to make, but I sure don't have to pay to receive them.

I'm not on a contract plan, as the deposit for us was way out of reach. So my service is very limited, i.e., it is pay-as-you-go, and I am charged for nearly everything. The only thing included is free in-network (AT&T/Cingular) calls whether incoming or if I call them.

But, just to use my phone costs me $1.00/US each day I either make or receive a call, even for an in-network call if it is the first use of the phone on that day. So if I put $50 on the phone, and use it everyday, $30 would be used up just for using the phone in a month. And then, except for in-network calls, I am charged for everything else. So I use the phone on an extremely limited basis. It is still mostly in case of emergencies.

Bloody hell yo ugot ripped off!

Here in NZ you pay just ten dollars a month and that covers 500 txts to anyone in the country and thats all you HAVE to pay. out of country txts and phone calls cost, but nothing like that.

We also have plans like $6 will allow you to do anything, txt, call video call etc to one person of your choosing for a month. Stuff like that. You cant go wrong.

And remember this is all nz dollars, $10 nz is like $7 US and $5 Euro, so its small change really

To those of you who are interested, Fist apparently found a way to txt internationally, so you can reach both me and Argothoth, for example. I'm sure he'll be glad to explain how he did to you if you contact him via PM ;)

I've haven't taken them up on that option. There's only one of my friends who texts me much at all - and I already pay close to $80 a month for the phone.

Yes, I pay quite a bit for my phone and family plan. Both my kids have phones and I have a Treo so I have internet access anywhere. I love it!!!

BUT, it costs.

Dunno about you all, but for me its just +(country code) (0)99 999 9999.

If the first number is a 0, it gets dropped when dialling internationally. Hence the brackets. You would dial that 0 internally, but not internationally.

011 is probably your country's "exit" code. (Usually using a "+" before the country code (49 for Germany) performs the same function.)

The exchange might drop the 0 automatically, sometimes they can do that...the 0 counts as a null digit.

Is not important as long as it gets through I guess.

Yes, 011 is my exit code. And 49 is Xar's country code. Then Xar's number, which starts with a 0. Vadhaka and Dorian said the 0 in front of their number gets dropped if we want to txt them from another country, but that is not the case when I txt Xar. So people should know to try it with the 0. At least from the USA.
